After finishing that Lorna gifset last night I suddenly got a story in my head. It’s short, and since it deals with Amy and the Demon’s Run stuff it’s probably not very nice, but here it is anyway.
Title: Justice Rating: PG13…I guess? Fandom: Doctor Who Characters: Amy Pond, Rory Williams, Jenny Flint, the Eleventh Doctor, Lorna Bucket, Madame Kovarian, River Song Warnings: Child loss, death, and abuse Summary: Three lives that touched the life of Amy Pond on Demon’s Run.
The Female Assassin by Sarah531 take place after the 4th episode of season 3 where Kelly beat the shit out of Hitler to prevent Germany winning the war. Turns out that her effort was redorded in the history books and the gang have a good time discovering this.
This is a short fanfic about a great idea, because surely an unidentified woman attacking Hitler without ever being caught would go down in history! The dialog feels natural to the characters as we know them from the screen. Especially Kelly’s voice is recognizable, I can really hear her say these lines. Despite the cursning so natural to the Misfit verse I think this is a rather cute text, everyone being as proud of Kelly as she is of herself. You can find it here: http://archiveofourown.org/works/490884
That Last Man on Earth fanfic. Ha, Idid it! And mostly without crying!
Title: Our Godawful Lazy Remake Culture Rating: God knows. PG-13? It gets kinda gross in its descriptions every now and then. Also, well, you’ve seen the show Fandom: The Last Man on Earth (TV) Notes: The opening line is from Fredric Brown’s famous story “Knock.” Characters/ships: Mike, Erica, Mike/Erica (well, sort of) Summary: Mike forbade his brother to watch him die, but he didn’t forbid Erica.
The last man on Earth sat alone in a room. There was a knock on the door.
Actually, most of that statement is inaccurate. Mike wasn’t the last man on Earth, although it would have been easier if it had been, and it wasn’t a knock, it was more like a pounding. He was in a room though. Hey, it’s a good opener, just go with it.
“Phil?” Mike asked. It came out as a sort of croak. It wouldn’t be Phil, he had promised. Maybe it was Death. Maybe it was the Terry Pratchett version of Death, which Mike had always hoped to be the real one. That would be pretty cool.
“Mike?” a voice called from downstairs. Whoever it was had opened the front door. Also, it was a woman. It was Erica. “Mike, it’s me.” A moment of silence. “Are you dead?”
“No,” Mike called back. It took most of his remaining strength to say that. Erica raced upstairs, taking the steps two at a time, and flung the door open.
“Christ!” she exclaimed on seeing him. “Oh, christ.”
“Sorry,” said Mike. He thought about making some joke about he wasn’t used to having that effect on a woman, but the words just didn’t come.
“Oh god, you do have it,” Erica said. She was wearing a hazmat suit; somehow Mike had missed this. “Oh god, I was hoping – I was hoping everyone was wrong. I had to come, I had to see-”
“Sorry,” said Mike again.
Erica was crying. “Oh god – you just look so terrible -”
Man I ADORED Michelle. I hope she later gets held up as as good a sci-fi heroine as Furiosa or Rey, because she really is that good.
Here’s my take on what happened to her after the end of the movie. I have no idea what to title this: suggestions are welcome
*
By the time Michelle reached Houston, she had forgotten the sound of her own voice. It had been a journey fraught with fear and danger – on more than one occasion she had buried herself deep down under the car seats and held her breath and heard her heart. Being unable to make a noise, being unable to sob or scream, had been an advantage then.
Title: The First Casualty Fandom: Star Wars Characters: Rey, Kylo Ren, Luke Skywalker Rating: PG13 Summary: The first casualty in any war is truth, as Rey is about to painfully learn.
Luke Skywalker spoke to her like a father at first. He took the lightsaber from Rey’s outstretched hand and put it carefully away, he praised her for having come so far, he expressed sorrow for all that she had seen, and he sat her down in his hovel and brought her some tea. Then he started talking to her like a fellow adult.
Hey, you know what I love? Fics where ladies who never had conversations in canon get to have conversations! Here is one of that genre.
Title: Pretty Dresses Fandom: Star Wars Characters: Padme Amidala, Beru Whitesun Rating: PG13 (there’s nothing in here worse than in any Star Wars movie) Summary: Padmé has never really had a conversation with a woman who doesn’t change her clothes even once a day.
(or, some missing moments from Attack of the Clones.)
However, Star Wars does not have a Christmas! Or any kind of holiday season, I gather. That did not stop me from writing this spoiler-laden, slightly Clone Wars-borrowing-from take on A Christmas Carol. Luke is about to be visited by three spirits! Ooh yes.
[I wasn’t kidding when I said ‘spoiler-laden’! This will ruin the movie for you if you haven’t seen it!]
Okay it isn’t actually self-aggrandizing, it just feels that way because I hate blowing my own trumpet. BUT I THOUGHT IT WOULD BE COOL to do a meme where everyone looks through their fanfics and picks out the five best lines they’ve written and posts them with commentary! Does that sound good? I’ll start, as you may have guessed…
–
5. “I am not a solid creature,” said Grantaire. “I need many hands to mould me.”– Stone
God I miss Grantaire. I mean, you know, he hasn’t gone anywhere, but I miss him. I miss how everyone used to talk about him. This story was for a ficathon! And I actually had kind of a blast writing it, even though it deals with some extremely crappy stuff. I think I got Grantaire in-character, because he keeps saying seemingly meaningless-but-actually-meaningful stuff. Which is just the sort of thing I like to write!
4. “Many Of Them Were Killed. But I Can Say With Absolute Certainty That They Did Not Die.”
– Garnet to Mayor Dewey, Don’t Ruin It
With a gimmick (I mean that in a honestly adoring way) ripped off from Terry Pratchett, Garnet sums up my Thoughts On History. Also, I absolutely adore Don’t Ruin It, if only because “a Terry Pratchett-inspired Steven Universe/Les Miserables crossover that explores the relationships between Enjolras and Grantaire, Pearl and Rose, Pearl and Mayor Dewey, Mayor Dewey and his son, Garnet and Pearl, and humans and stories” is something that sounds nigh-on impossible to pull off. But I hope I did it.
3. “It’s very likely that this Amy was a prostitute,” said one of the men. – Amy
This line delights me on several levels, most of them sort of meta-y re: the treatment of women in art, be that art the paintings of Vincent van Gogh or the episodes of Doctor Who. Also that whole section of the story is I guess is a kind of – nod to? statement about? – the fact that Amy was indeed created by a man who has problematic views on women, but right now I’m creating her. I get to say what she is! Or perhaps she does? I would need a lot of time and effort to follow any of that through to its natural conclusion, but yeah. I like that line.
dear GOD, TTTAITP. It’s still the fanfic I’m proudest of to this day. (its concept was, basically, ‘take all that icky stuff that happened to Amy during the pregnancy arc and actually RUN WITH IT, just like the writers didn’t’.) This is, um, a line. But a very very important one considering the fanfic’s subject matter. It shouldn’t have to be, mind.
1. I AM AFRAID OF WAR AND WEAPONS. I AM AFRAID OF THE LICH. AND I AM AFRAID OF YOU. – Death (that Death? Sure) to Simon Petrikov, Humanity in the Abstract
Death from Adventure Time turns out to be the same Death from Discworld (it’s vaguely explained, don’t worry) and he pays Simon Petrikov a visit. They have a discussion about life, death, mental illness, Marcy and monsters, and then this line happens. It is important to me for Reasons. Hey, maybe they could be your Reasons too!

If you’re a fanfic writer and you want to do this, you should totally do it!
Title: A Summary of Events Rating: PG13 I think, since it involves depression and murder and swearing and many unpleasant real-world scenarios, many of which are happening right now in fact Fandom: Thunderbirds/Thunderbirds Are Go
Summary: This is best described as ‘a look at how IR might function in the real world’ except obviously it’s not quite the real world because it’s several decades in the future and also after a war. I also hope it’s not Dark And Gritty, but rather Pointed And Vaguely Satirical.
Features a bit of fourth-wall breaking, which starts…..now.
YEAR: 2070 DATE: 28 JULY
This summary of recent events has been put together as a voting aid. It is based on your social media activity, your browser history and your work profile…
THIS IS FINALLY DONE! It also has a proper title now, which I will edit into the previousparts.
Contains what is hopefully some mild satire as well as some fourth-wall breaking. Is an attempt at putting the whole concept of Thunderbirds into a ‘real’ future world, but hopefully isn’t Dark and Gritty with it.
Will also be on AO3, with some slight edits, later.now
