Avengers: Endgame

So it’s been a few days now since Avengers: Endgame came out and I think I’m finally ready to put the Analysis Hat, and the Complaints Hat, and the Celebration Hat on. There were some things I loved and some things I loathed. Also since a lot of people haven’t seen it yet you have to click the ‘more’ button:

Endgame

Lots of cheering and clapping in the theatre. Girl next to me yelled “Stop clapping, you’re not twelve” at one point. Think there might have been a lot of people there who felt like twelve-year-olds again at certain points. There was a gay character, briefly, and he didn’t die. Wow. Gamora’s not dead. What a long, strange journey it’s been.

Endgame predictions

These are not necessarily things I WANT to happen but things I suspect WILL. Okay, most of them are things I want to happen

-Valkyrie unfortunately won’t be in it very much

-Neither will Wasp

-Nakia won’t be in it all, which kinda sucks cos I like her

-Time travel will be involved somewhere

-Someone at one point will call “Peter?” and both Peters will answer

-Hawkeye will be everyone’s favourite by the end

-All Hawkeye’s family are dead, EXCEPT possibly his daughter, who may be Ronin??? I have no idea

-All the original Avengers will be dead by the end of the film, but possibly with a loophole just in case

-There will be a LOT of flashbacks

-Nebula and Gamora will both deliver the killing blow to Thanos

-Nebula will sacrifice herself so Gamora can live. The theatre will fill up with my tears

I saw Captain Marvel yesterday! I feel I guess kinda odd about the fact that the film’s main message is (spoilers) “Your commanding officers have lied to you: your enemies aren’t monsters, just terrified refugees who need your help” BUT the film is sponsored by the US Army. It’s a very good film (it’s essentially an out-and-out female power fantasy) I just dunno what to make of that.
