I love Molly Hooper- she is fabulous. I want a spin-off with her and Donovan.

Favourite characters of 2011 (sticking to ‘active’ characters only- so no Marthas or Eowyns or Skywalkers, alas)
Rory Pond (Doctor Who): Because he’s a brave, loyal, flawed hero.
Amy Pond (Doctor Who): The exact same reasons except also she likes to dress as a pirate.
Mels Zucker/Melody Pond (Doctor Who): It took me a while to warm to River (I like her now, of course) but I liked Mels instantly- I don’t know why. Then I wrote a lot of fanfiction about her incredibly unorthodox childhood, thusly spending a lot of time in her head. Now I really love her.
Kelly Bailey (Misfits): Do I even need a reason for her? She is amazing. Kick-ass, loyal, confident, brave, beat up Nazis, headbutted Hitler.
Shaun the probation worker (Misfits): Obviously I wouldn’t want to spend any time with him in real life, in fact I’d hate his guts, but he was such a slimy, sleazy, magnificent bastard that I looked forward to his scenes most of all.
Marnie (Misfits): I deliberated for about twenty seconds whether to put Marnie or Nathan on the list, but it had to be Marnie, because she’s basically a female Nathan and is awesome.
Luna Lovegood (Harry Potter): I wish I was more like Luna. I’m slowly getting there.
Neville Longbottom (Harry Potter): There are a lot of badasses in the world. He’s the best.
FRYCROFT Mycroft Holmes (Sherlock Holmes): This is the most important man in the British government, who casually strolls naked round his house and flirts with the servants.
John Watson (Sherlock Holmes): Come on, it’s Watson!
Mary Watson (Sherlock Holmes): The unsung hero of A Game Of Shadows. Hey, it was her who actually translated all of Moriarty’s notebooks. And she knows how to handle a gun.
Rapunzel (Tangled): God she’s awesome. Hyper, childlike, creative, clever, and yet can fight when the chips are down.
Jodie ‘Scout’ Allen (Waterloo Road): Not many people know this, but I’m addicted to Waterloo Road. And she was my favourite of the kids. I dunno what exactly it was drew me to her…probably because she was treated appallingly by everyone, including her horrible mother, and came out swinging nonetheless.
Daniel Chalk (Waterloo Road): And he’s my favourite of the teachers. Look at his squishy face. I wish the romance between him and Janeece had worked out, bloke deserves a little happiness. Fun fact: Mark Benton was Clive in Rose.
Miranda Hart (Miranda): Okay, I know that there wasn’t actually a series of Miranda this year, but she did show up on the Michael McIntyre show and stuff, so she’s going in here. Also I want her for the Twelveth Doctor.
Sarah Jane Smith (The Sarah Jane Adventures): This should have been her year.
Not as good as the first film (which is easily in my top ten favourite movies ever) but not bad. Pretty darn good in fact.
Liked:
-Stephen Fry alone is worth the price of admission. Also he gets naked at one point (for no plot reason at all). And he’s totally playing Mycroft as gay, which I’m all for.
-The relationship between Holmes and Watson is just as complicated and lovely as in the first film. While Watson may (probably) love his wife more than he loves his best friend, Holmes’ truest love is always gonna be Watson. And they have a little dance together! Which you’d think would raise eyebrows in that era, but no-one does, and that’s still cool.
-Damn, the chemistry between RDJ and Rachel McAdams is through the roof. Then again, as nicely demonstrated by ALL THIS MOVIE, Robert Downey Jr has chemistry with anything that breathes.
-Liked Sim and her fighting skillz, although she didn’t have an awful lot to do really.
-Moriarty was pretty good. Shame he probably won’t return for the threequel…
-Hey look, it’s Colonel Moran! Looking nothing like I pictured him…or how he’s described in the book…but even so.
-The final get-out clause at the end is actually pretty well done. Cos there’s so much stuff in the film- random objects and inventions- that when one turns out to be important it’s not actually a cheat. Or it doesn’t feel like one.
-I love Mary. Does no-one else love Mary?
Disliked:
-They killed off Irene BEFORE EVEN THE OPENING CREDITS. :(
-Not enough Lestrade. Or really, any Lestrade beyond a tiny cameo.
Look you guys, here’s Stephen Fry as Mycroft, yay
And now here’s Arthur Darvill speaking about Amnesty International, which deserves to be mentioned more than the Sherlock Holmes thing and not just because it’s Arthur
I went sort of ‘arty’ with these ones? They’re a bit different from my usual ones, anyway.
Comment, credit, all that!

Yayz! Sherlock Holmes 2 trailer. Featuring cross-dressing Holmes and SO. MUCH. homoerotic subtext. No Stephen Fry as of yet, but I’m looking forward to him…
It’s still the beginning of January! It’s not too late!
Anyway, here’s my major fanworks during the year of 2010. Which may actually be a different version of the meme going round, but I figured I’d do it anyway.
January to Febuary -nuffin
March –The Dying Doctor, a Sherlock Holmes AU to ‘The Dying Detective’. Hey, have you seen the fanfiction.net section for Sherlock Holmes? There is some magnificent stuff there. I hope this lives up to their standards… (Not often you see the words ‘magnificent’ and ‘fanfiction.net’ together, is it?)
April –The Girl, a quick Doctor Who thing where Eleven meets Rose and does not get off with her.
May –No Matter, a Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes crossover. It trailed off somewhat towards the end but I bloody loved writing it. (Link leads to the last chapter, posted in July.)
June –In The End, in which Rory meets the afterlife and Adric
An Amy Pond mood theme. Which isn’t animated. But I like it.
July –God From The Machine, about what Amy and Rory were doing during Children Of Earth
The Doctor’s People, in which Amy and Rory meet Mickey and Martha. Oh, I totally loved this one. (link goes to the last chapter, posted in August)
August – The Hungry Woman, about what happened to Ambrose after the Doctor left her behind
The beginning of the Doctor Who Sprite Project!
September –From Within, which is a bit like Amy’s Choice part two. (link goes to last chapter)
October –Journey’s Beginning, which stars every companion in Journey’s End
More of the Doctor Who Sprite Project!
Three, my poem!fic tribute to the Eleventh Doctor and his companions. It may be crap, I don’t know, but I so love it.
November –It’s A Pretty Big Deal (In Time Lord Land), my Doctor/Rory fic
Never Tear Us Apart, my Amy/Rory music video. Which I remain desperately proud of. Is that bad? I dunno.
December –A bit of meta on Rory, although I don’t think it’s real meta, real meta is better
And…hey, that’s it!
Doctor Who, Karen Gillan, Sherlock Holmes and Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows!

#1 is what the Old Woman says to Martha in Journey’s End, it translates as ‘Martha, you’re going to hell’
Good day, everybody.
You know what? I’ve decided I don’t like Sherlock. It was alright, and I enjoyed it while it was on, pretty much, but…I just can’t really bring myself to like it. The acting’s good and the scripts are good, it’s got all the gloss and style of a Really Good Show, but the way they’ve done the characters, it just leaves me cold. Holmes is a hero, even though I suppose Moffat and Gatiss don’t think so, and he’d never dismiss people in danger so casually! And Watson isn’t an Everyman, not even close, he’s a war hero and a regular hero and he’s so kind and loyal and awesome that he’s probably in the running for my favourite literary character of all time. Anyway!
I guess I just don’t see the friendship that’s meant to be between them, either. I think we were told that they were best friends a lot, but we never saw it.
I did like what they did with Lestrade, though. And the plots were pretty clever. I feel like I’m bringing down the party, but now I’m just sort of hoping Sherlock fades away into being just another of so many adaptations…
