I went sort of ‘arty’ with these ones? They’re a bit different from my usual ones, anyway.
Comment, credit, all that!

Total Film calls Freema Agyeman ‘disappointing’ as an actress; I feel somewhat annoyed. Is it actually normal to react that way when someone you’ve never met is critized by a magazine that’s not all that good anyway?

Maybe I’m just concerned that she’ll become someone it’s cool to slag off (things I like generally suffer this fate, although I think that might say more about me) and soon I won’t be able to pick up a magazine without reading negative things about her. Which would suck, although I suppose it would save me money on magazines.

The Freema Agyeman Appreciation post

Becoming tired of the negativity on the OG, I thought I’d make a list of reasons Freema deserves fangirling.

1. Making 42 a pretty good episode instead of a ‘meh’ one. I particularly love the phone conversation between her and her mother. It really makes the episode for me, especially the last phone call when you can hear the relief and concern in her voice.

(pictures, apart from the Martha/Jack one, are from freemaagyeman.com)

2. Being absolutely brilliant in Human Nature. She takes on the Family, tells Joan where to go, and generally is all kinds of awesome. Human Nature was so, so good. I think it’s probably Freema’s best performance, although all of them are good.

3. The chemistry between her and John Barrowman. It makes me want to ship Martha/Jack.

4. The hurt on her face at “It’s like when you fancy someone and they don’t even know you exist”

5. This bit. In fact, she was great in all of ‘The Sound Of Drums’.

6. She used to be a Trekkie!

7. She understands the fans, never has a bad word to say about any of us, and geniunely seems to love her job and the show.

That’s seven- add your own. :D

Doctor Who: The Doctor’s Daughter

That was quite good, I thought. Not brilliant but good.

It actually rather surprised me that Jenny survived in the end. I hope she’s back for the finale, and she doesn’t just get forgotten about. You never know with this show.

May I rant for a second? I cannot fathom why after every episode, over at OG or The Doctor Who Forum or whatever we’re calling it now, there’s always a thread in which Freema Agyeman is called a bad actress. It never happens with any of the other actors, as far as I can tell, just her. I can’t work out why, because at the very least she’s good and I think she’s great. Furthermore, she gets great lines and is showing a distinct badass streak.

I also loved Donna in this episode. And Ten and his Time Lord angst. Poor Ten. That makes two people he cared about who’ve died in his arms in eight episodes, even if one of them took over the Earth.

I can’t wait for the finale to this season. I suspect it’s going to be Big.

Freema Agyeman is the new companion

(And…a new comm already, look! lifeonmartha)

Personally, I liked her in Army Of Ghosts (I have no idea how on earth they’ll get it to work with that, though- is Martha the alt-verse Adi?) and I actually thought it was a pity she wasn’t going to show up again. And now she is. Yay. :D

Not sure I like the name Martha, though. But if that is indeed her name, I hope episode 1 of Series 3 is called Martha, just for balance. ;)

A disturbing thought: this means The Sun was right. :0
