transphobia

Angry about transphobia today? Here are some things you can do with that rage — PinkNews

I’m sick and tired of being told that trans people are a threat to women, girls and feminism. And I’m sick and tired of not being able to call this out for what it is: transphobia. And after yet another newspaper article about how the struggle for transgender rights is “silencing women” – published, unironically, by…

Obnoxious thief steals church display honouring murdered trans people: ‘God saw you – and so did our cameras’

A reverend in Ohio revealed a thief has stolen part of his church display honouring the trans people who were killed in 2019. St Peter’s United Church of Christ in Cincinnati, Ohio, describes itself as a “100 per cent hate free zone”. According to its website, the church welcomes everyone into its community “no matter…

“Once the ground is softer we will have permanent flag poles installed and pride flags will wave 20 feet in the air. When you go low we will go high.”

That might just be the best use of that quote I’ve seen to date.

Dear JK Rowling

Reblogging this, it’s important.

I am an AFAB transmasc non-binary person. And you probably don’t understand what that means.

A year ago I had waist-long hair. I never cut it- I used to have a habit of trimming it every other solstice but kept forgetting to for years. It felt wrong. I was thinking about cutting it for ages. But I couldn’t- I had grown it forever because it felt like the natural thing to do. But by the time I finally cut it, my heart had been broken twice- once by a woman and once by circumstance. There’s a Japanese tradition I had seen in manga where you cut your hair after a heartbreak to start anew. I finally cut it to my shoulders- an AMAB nonbinary person I knew had hair like that so I thought it would better suit my lack of gender.

Ricky Gervais Under Fire for Transphobic Tweets He Claims Are Jokes — Variety

Ricky Gervais has posted a series of seemingly transphobic tweets prompted by J.K. Rowling’s support of Maya Forstater, a researcher who was fired for tweeting that a person cannot change their biological sex. In later tweets, Gervais implied the tweets were meant as jokes. Ricky Gervais Under Fire for Transphobic Tweets He Claims Are Jokes — Variety

For all that’s gone on in the past year, I barely believed I could one day wake up in a world where JK Rowling and Ricky Gervais were on the same side.

They see me Rowling, they hating (and rightly so)

Today, J.K. Rowling drew back the curtain on Twitter and essentially declared herself to be a transphobe, which is depressing and awful. I just remembered, she has kids. Even worse.

Here are the people who are defending her right now:

You would hope that getting support from such people would cause anyone to take a long hard look at themselves, but I doubt it. I admired Rowling so much as a kid – we kinda have similar backstories – but not any more. Not for a long time, really. God, it’s hard to processs when the adults in your life let you down this drastically, but hey – another one.

Not that it will make a difference or anything, but I will not be paying to see Fantastic Beasts 3.

‘King of the transphobes’ Graham Linehan is dominating the nominations for Channel 4’s D*ck of the Year

British comedy show The Last Leg has been presenting a mock prize to the ‘Dick of the Year’ since 2014 – and this year’s hot contender is none other than the darling of “gender-critical feminism”, Graham Linehan himself. The Irish comedy writer, who rose to public consciousness in the 90s for being a co-writer on Father…

I don’t say this about many people, but may he die lonely.

suburbanerd:

Roberts last wrote for the show in 2014 and is not expected to return for the current series. It will always astound me that someone can write so much science fiction and yet entirely miss the point of science fiction.

Ugh. God I hope he doesn’t get invited back
