the avengers

(no subject)

I’ve just been talking about this on another forum- Avengers Assemble The Avengers comes out over here in a few days, but the UK release doesn’t have the Joss commentary. Or the 90-minute making-of (unless you buy it on Blu-Ray, from Sainsbury’s. In other news, Sainsbury’s still hasn’t delievered the exclusive-to-them copy of The Hunger Games that I ordered on next-day delivery two days ago). Or even the gag reel, apparently!

So you know what, I’m not buying it. I was looking really forward to it, but I’m not buying it. It isn’t bloody fair, to lose out just cos of living in the UK! There’d be an outcry if Doctor Who or Harry Potter was released in the US as only a vanilla edition…

If there was a way to watch it all legally on DVD I’d do it, but there isn’t. (Heck, I don’t even own a Blu-Ray player.) I’m just gonna download everything- film, commentaries, extras- burn it onto a DVD, knock up a nice cover, and watch that. I’ll make up the money by buying, I dunno, a stuffed Loki doll or something.

#god i loved this scene SO MUCH #because she’s scared. she’s scared and everything’s going wrong and she just wants to huddle into a corner and do nothing at all #she’s just had to face her worst fear‚ something she can’t control‚ can’t manipulate‚ can’t fight #everything is going horribly wrong and honestly if she hadn’t answered i doubt anyone would have specifically noticed #but she gets up anyway. she pulls herself together and she radios in and she goes to stop clint. #some guy who totally missed the point complained in a review that it was unfeminist to have had her be scared and i say fuck that #do you have any idea how wonderful it was to see a heroine who freaks out and then pushes past it‚ sir #who is ALLOWED by the narrative to freak out‚ who is not shamed for her fear‚ who can be afraid without it defining her #because it was pretty fucking wonderful to me

Clint = Rory: Soldier types who always come as a package deal with their badass redhead.
Phil = Mickey: Both The Man In Havana, both eventually drawn to Big Fucking Guns.
Maria = River: The capable second-in-command.
Thor = Rose: Both channel godlike powers (that they had to prove themselves worthy of.) Also, both blonde.
Loki = The Master: These two would get on like a house on fire…no survivors.
