Doctor Who: Silence In The Library

Not quite the scariest episode ever (that’s still Blink) but still really really really scary.

That left so many questions. I want to know who River is. Maybe she’s another person who’ll show up in the finale? Probably not. But the more the merrier. She seems quite important to the series plot, anyway.

Donna is obviously not dead, since we’ve seen her in the trailers. River’s comment that she wasn’t around when she herself met the Doctor has me suspicious, though. I really do think she’ll die, or get herself trapped Rose-style in a parallel world. Who knows. I don’t want her to die, though. That would suck.

‘Ghosting’ is the scariest and most terrible concept ever. Good grief. If I had been Donna in that scene I’d probably have demanded to be taken home straight away. It was, however, a really great scene for Catherine Tate.

Doctor Who: The Unicorn and the Wasp

That was really really really cool.

I wasn’t actually expecting that to be very good, because there’s yet to be an episode seven that I really adored, but that was great. The actress playing Agatha Christie I think has probably been the best guest actor so far this season, and I loved the flashbacks and the random bit with the Doctor and arrows and the snog and the oh so very Whoish introduction.

I am a little surprised at Donna basically killing the Vespiform, though. Especially since it was sort of glossed over at the end.

In conclusion: It rocked. :D

Doctor Who: The Doctor’s Daughter

That was quite good, I thought. Not brilliant but good.

It actually rather surprised me that Jenny survived in the end. I hope she’s back for the finale, and she doesn’t just get forgotten about. You never know with this show.

May I rant for a second? I cannot fathom why after every episode, over at OG or The Doctor Who Forum or whatever we’re calling it now, there’s always a thread in which Freema Agyeman is called a bad actress. It never happens with any of the other actors, as far as I can tell, just her. I can’t work out why, because at the very least she’s good and I think she’s great. Furthermore, she gets great lines and is showing a distinct badass streak.

I also loved Donna in this episode. And Ten and his Time Lord angst. Poor Ten. That makes two people he cared about who’ve died in his arms in eight episodes, even if one of them took over the Earth.

I can’t wait for the finale to this season. I suspect it’s going to be Big.

Doctor Who: The Poison Sky

That might actually end up being one of my favourites this season.

Loved Donna and her family, loved Martha and her clone, generally just really liked the whole thing. I think this one could be setting up a whole bunch of stuff for the finale, but I’m not quite sure what yet.

I liked that ‘goodbye’, even though it was obviously not a real goodbye. Good on Ten for giving everyone a choice too, even if they are unpleasant aliens with silly helmets.

Really that’s about it for that one. Next week’s looks pretty good, though…

Doctor Who: The Sontaran Stratagem

That one wasn’t bad, although I think we’ll have to see the second part to really judge.

It was good to see Martha again. She acted very much older than she was, I thought. Donna’s at least five years older than her, and yet Martha was the one who seemed more adult. Not necesarily in a good way, either. I think all her experiences are eventually gonna weigh on her. The Doctor goes on about not liking people with guns, and yet all his companions seem to wind up soldiers. Martha, Jack, Mickey, (if the spoilers I’ve seen are to be believed…) Rose. I liked that Martha and Donna got along instantly.

Donna was very good too, as were her mother and grandfather. I really liked the bit when she walking down the road and flashing back to her previous adventures.

Sontarans…are not scary.

That’s about it. :p

Doctor Who: Planet of the Ood

Ooh, that one was good. I’m starting to really like Donna now, and rather fear for Ten, thanks to a bit at the end which I shall not reveal uncut.

Ood are lovely, aren’t they? Probably the best of all the new series monsters. I sort of hope they show up again, even if just in the background…

And next week Martha’s back! Yay!
