Rey and Kylo Ren’s costumes

reddishues:

so idk if this has been pointed out already, but Rey’s and Kylo’s costumes are literally mirror images of each other, Rey’s is just the white version and Kylo’s is just the black version

the four panels of fabric below the waist in the front and back

the leather belt, gloves, and of course the bandaged fabric on the arms

the masks/head covering that drapes the shoulders

the light side and dark side of the force symbolism between these two characters is literally reflected in what they’re wearing and i’m just ???

and the fact that kylo’s is so much more layered and concealing, and he’s always donning the mask, effectively hiding his body, face, and emotions because he just wants to be cloaked in darkness and it’s just ???

queerly-it-is:

chewie with a little sling attached to his bandoleer so he could carry baby ben around on the falcon while he did repairs or handled the controls.

han trusting chewie with ben like almost no one else, the same way he trusted chewie with his own life more times than either of them could count.

chewie watching han fall from that catwalk and remembering han’s face the first time he handed chewie the tiny squirming bundle and said, “just don’t drop him, all right?”

chewie pulling his aim to the side at the last second, because he promised.

Rey vs Kylo Ren fan animation; had to cut it into two halves because of the gif size.

You can see the full thing HERE thanks to this awesome guy who had the suggestion.

I had a lot of difficulties doing this, but I’m glad I didn’t scrap it like so many other things. It’s good to do something really challenging from time to time and keep coming back to it until it’s done. It might not be perfect, but at least you have a result and can’t get away without solving some problems you didn’t know how to deal with before.

AU where everything is the same, but Kylo Ren admires his grandmother too

This is way better.

None more goth.

This is fantastic but now I really want the films to have Kylo have just as completely wrong a view on Padmé as he does on Anakin.

I mean I refuse to believe Luke & Leia still have no idea who their mother is. Luke can talk with force ghost!Anakin. Leia seems to have some weird force memories of Padmé.  There are still people alive from the time of the Republic.

Luke in particular already shows in interest in his mother in the films. Leia is more complicated-she never has the reconciliation with Anakin (or any real type of relationship with Vader really) and clearly regards Bail as her father. Yet she does have the memory link to Padmé and doesn’t seem bothered with Luke’s querying after her real mother. So I find it difficult to think she’d have no interest in discovering who their birth mother was.

Now the interesting bit there is that once they discover who their mother was, Leia probably knows who

Padmé Amidala is given Bail was a close friend of hers and it’s quite possible he’d have told Leia about her-as an ally against the destruction of the Republic who died in the transformation into the Empire. Besides Padmé

was a pretty public figure.

So what did Han and Leia they tell Ben about her?

And what did the First Order tell Kylo?

What’s Kylo Ren’s idea of Padmé?

Was she Darth Vader’s first betrayer, trying to stop what he started and then when she failed she passed their children onto two of his main enemies? The original version of his mother who rejected all Vader’s philosophy and aims?

Or was she Palpatine’s

protégé, a natural partner for Vader who was betrayed by those who where supposed to help her and stole her children for themselves rather than giving them to their father or even her own family?

I really want to know this, too

I quite like this one particular Star Wars theory that I have nicknamed the Snape Theory, which posits that Kylo is a double agent in very deep cover, trying to bring down the First Order, and Han’s death was pre-arranged and accepted by him at least (if not Leia) and that’ll be the Shock Twist of the next movie.

I dunno, I like it better than “Leia and Han’s son is very very evil for some not really specified reason.” Though I think it has SOME flaws…

Kylo Ren : Show me again the power of the darkness, and I’ll let nothing stand in our way. Show me, grandfather, and I will finish what you started.
Anakin’s force ghost : what the fuuuuck ?? What the hell did I start that you could finish ??? I killed the emperor to save a member of my family and you are doing the exact opposite of that ??? I died to stop the empire and you help them build it up again??? WHY ???
