chewbacca is never going to fly the millennium falcon with han at his side again. luke is never going to hear the words “kid” muttered under han’s breath again. luke didn’t even get to say goodbye. did luke feel it? did he feel kylo ren about to kill his best friend? did he plead with kylo ren to stop? ben this is your own father. did luke beg? leia never will hold han again. or tell him she knows he loves her. and she knew. but never again. han solo is never going to get to be a dad again. han solo is never going to get to be a pilot or smuggler or a husband or a friend. han solo is gone.

Sometimes he [Obi-Wan] talked to him in his head. Arguments more furious than the ones they’d had. Talks in which he explained, Master to Padawan, why he’d done what he’d done. Simple words that managed to say everything he’d meant to say, only more clearly than he’d ever been able to say it. In these talks, Anakin listened and understood.

Of course, he was talking to a ghost. Anakin Skywalker was dead.

queerly-it-is:

chewie with a little sling attached to his bandoleer so he could carry baby ben around on the falcon while he did repairs or handled the controls.

han trusting chewie with ben like almost no one else, the same way he trusted chewie with his own life more times than either of them could count.

chewie watching han fall from that catwalk and remembering han’s face the first time he handed chewie the tiny squirming bundle and said, “just don’t drop him, all right?”

chewie pulling his aim to the side at the last second, because he promised.
