So I
suddenly got the urge to find out why the heck Ego kept calling Meredith his “river
lily” and associated the woman so much with it (because I’m hellbent on the
fact that he would probably never pay
so much attention to someone else’s needs that he would remember her favorite
flower – he would probably rather remember his own and associate it with her).

And the one
thing I came up with is looking up the meaning of the lily itself, and ho boy,
that actually fits quite a bit:

meanings following, I picked those most common apparently)

“…Greek lore associates lily meaning with birth
and it is a symbol for motherhood…”

the flowers most often associated with funerals, lilies symbolize that the soul
of the departed has received restored innocence after death….”

“…If there’s one flower that’s bursting with
symbolism, it’s the lily. Amiability, purity, love, fertility, femininity,
unity and transience; it represents all of them….”

That describes
literally Meredith’s role in these movies.

For one, we
see her as Peter’s mother, the one
person he loved the most. That’s her biggest role – and on one side, it’s
filled with love (for Peter and from Peter) and on the other side, it has this
twisted meaning because Ego literally used
to create an offspring that would carry his light and help him with the
expansion. So her biggest title is that of a mother.

And the
second one is her dying, moving on, and only her soul (the soul of the
departed) is what stays with Peter. We don’t see her after that in the movie,
apart from flashbacks. Furthermore, her “innocence” was literally taken away
from her by Ego in more than one way (metaphorically if she still was a virgin
before meeting him and literally because he made her indirectly a pawn in his
world-domination plans).

Her second title is that of a soul whose innocence only was restored after death.

whatever the real meaning of river lily would have been – I rather like this
coincidence already.

I don’t want to skip ahead two years. I want to see the very next moment of what happens. [How Rey and Luke relate to each other is the key relationship in Episode VIII, and Johnson says] a large part of the movie will be spent addressing why Luke’s there and what he’ll do next. Like Luke, Rey has been pulled into a bigger world by connecting with the Force, but part of what’s she’s dealing with is the realization that she has this power and this gift. She’s taking her first step to coming to terms with this thing inside her that she never knew was there and is just starting to reveal its potential.

#StarWarsPrequels Bomber Jacket:

Over this past summer, I read a blog post on Stylish Geek about DIY Star Wars bomber jacket: . I loved the idea! I’ve been collecting Star Wars Prequel patches for awhile and I just needed the right project to make use of them. So I decided to make a Prequel themed bomber jacket.

It took me awhile to find the right jacket, but I finally found one at Macy’s and on sale! I then hand-stitched all of the patches onto the jacket. I prefer to do the sewing by hand because I can double the thread and make the stitches tighter.

Once the patches were on, I added a couple of pins as a finishing touch. I really loved the way this jacket turned and I can’t wait to wear it once the weather cools down.

Brooklyn Nine-Nine: Meet Holt’s New Neighbor, Rhea Perlman

Don’t feel too bad for Capt. Ray Holt (2016 Emmy nominee Andre Braugher). He was sent off to witness protection in the Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 3 finale, but he’s making fast friends in his new Coral Palms, Florida neighborhood.

In the Sept. 20 Season 4 premiere, Cheers star Rhea Perlman will guest star as Estelle, Holt’s new Sunshine State neighbor and the leader of the local power walking group he joins. Holt – a.k.a Greg – and his detective, Jake Peralta (witness protection name: Larry) had to flee their homes, jobs, and loved ones at the end of last season after on-the-lam mobster Jimmy Figgis threatened them.

They’ll remain ensconced in Florida when the new season opens, and Estelle will not only lead Greg’s fitness efforts, but she may also develop feelings for her new pal, who’s keeping his sexuality and his real name under wraps. “She has a bit of a crush on him,” series co-creator Dan Goor tells Yahoo TV. “Unfortunately, she can’t act on it, because ‘Greg’ is still grieving the loss of his wife and her female-ness… Estelle is sort of the den mother of the walking group, and she has concerns about her family, about her daughter’s choice of mate,” continues Goor. “She makes [those concerns] very vocal to Greg.”
