I just love this quote. It’s so easily overlooked, seen as unimportant, until you see the prequels. Because then you realize how utterly true and heartbreaking that phrase is. “He died about the same time your father did.” Meaning that Obi-Wan, that is, everything that made him who he was, his faith, his joy, his light, was murdered, killed, at the same time that Anakin was lost to the Dark Side. When Anakin became Vader, Obi-Wan became Ben. Anakin and Obi-Wan died together on that planet. Only Vader and Ben left it alive. One full of hate and darkness, the other a broken shell that was merely existing, not even really living. These two men were so deeply entwined, so bonded together in the force, that when one died, so did the other. That is the real definition of true love.
Oh my god.
#that moment where Obi-wan visibly gives up on anakin #was essentially the moment he surrendered himself #kenobi the great jedi hero #ben taking that last little bit of his brother to somewhere safe #and that last little bit of himself to be buried in the desert (via xenadd)
anakin skywalker
Unpopular opinion: Anakin wasn’t an idiot for not noticing Palpatine’s intentions with him.
omg STRONGLY AGREE
Palpatine pretty much pulled the wool over the eyes of the entire Jedi order, who could allegedly sense intention. I don’t think Anakin was an idiot either. He was emotionally vulnerable and Palpatine gave him the emotional support and confidence boost the Jedi failed to give him. So he latched onto Palpatine as a sort of father figure and put blinders on to any warning signs he might have seen.
Reminder that everyone else, and namely Padme, had at least minimal trust in Palps as well.
Padme in particular was smart as hell, and close enough to both him and Anakin that if anyone was going to see what was going on, she would have; and she didn’t, because Sheev’s a deceptive and charming bastard, even after he’s declared himself
dictatoremperor.#when I read Last of the Jedi there was a part where Ferus had to chill with the emperor at some party#and guess what?#Bitch was so charismatic he had /me/ thinking ‘huh. he’s not so bad.’ for a millisecond.#that’s his thing#that’s the only way he made it#so poor young anakin who was emotionally unstable? nah. I don’t blame him a bit for not getting it.#fucking yoda couldn’t sense what was going on.
To add to that: Bail Organa apparently thought that Palpatine was a good and decent person.
Add into it that Anakin’s relationship with Palpatine has some aspects of child grooming, and there’s no surprise for why Anakin is so loyal to Palps, as tragic as it is.
@thranduil-aran-edhil gave me this funny little idea
i can’t believe we’ve all arrived at the point where we’re actually rooting for anakin
A Snow Song
It is Star Wars and it is also Christmas!
However, Star Wars does not have a Christmas! Or any kind of holiday season, I gather. That did not stop me from writing this spoiler-laden, slightly Clone Wars-borrowing-from take on A Christmas Carol. Luke is about to be visited by three spirits! Ooh yes.
[I wasn’t kidding when I said ‘spoiler-laden’! This will ruin the movie for you if you haven’t seen it!]
(more…)how many times has anakin skywalker been electrocuted
does someone have a count
is this boy’s brain okay
Omg my time to shine!
1. Gungan General
2. Hostage Crisis
3. The Citadel
4. Gungan Attack
5. Prisoners
6. Shadow Warrior (at least twice, implied it was much more)
7. Slaves of the Republic
8. Escape from Kadavo (twice)
9. Crisis on Naboo (twice)
10. Sacrifice (though this was in Yoda’s vision and not real life)So in conclusion, by the time Revenge of the Sith rolls around, Anakin has been electrocuted a minimum of 12 times. This can cause a host of physical and neurological problems, including lack of emotional control, increased aggression, etc. Strictly speaking, Anakin’s propensity towards having huge amounts of electricity (which should by all rights have killed him ages ago – there’s an entire book where Luke is dealing with the pain associated with Force lightning, whereas Anakin’s just like “whatever, just another Tuesday”) played as big of a role in his turn to the Dark Side as anything else, since it sapped his brain of the ability of cognitive reasoning.
…so are you saying that Anakin might have never joined the dark side if he wasn’t a human lightning rod?
I’m saying Anakin’s cognitive functioning and ability to control his emotions and aggression were deeply impacted by being a human lightning rod, which is the long way of saying yes.
yall out here reblogging only the first half of this but not the important stuff

When you realize that the entire plot of the prequel era is pretty much the saddest possible version of this.
