the last man on earth

It’s been over a week since TLMOE was cancelled and I think I’ve made peace with it ending where it did. Mike’s return means that hope did win out after all, and there’s a great rhyming feel to the show’s penultimate scene being Tandy doing something to help Mike through his trauma, having overcome his own and now understanding the nature of it. And I don’t mind the cliffhanger, because I do actually really like open-ended “it’s up to you if things turned out good or bad” endings. (I feel like the “it all depends where the story ends” speech from 3×05 was setting up for it, too, in some way.)

Ultimately the show ends much how it started, with “hope is good”. I still wish the writers had gotten to finish it on their own terms, but…

Alright, the worst happened and Last Man on Earth is gone. (Brooklyn 99 is also gone. It’s been that sort of week.)

But, just like the heroes of the show, we shouldn’t give up hope just yet! Fan campaigns can save shows, that’s what almost certainly gonna happen with B99! So here’s some ideas to for what you can do to help resurrect TLMOE for at least long enough to give everyone (both characters AND actors!) the ending and closure they deserve:

It’s not quite over! C’mon everyone!

The first petition hit 10k signatures today, and it’s been up for less than a week:

i’ve seen a few other people point this out but can we just talk about the one thing all the shows fox cancelled had in common? can we just talk about the fact that brooklyn 99, last man on earth, lucifer and the exorcist all had LGBT characters in the MAIN cast. in the case of lucifer, the MALE LEAD was OPENLY bisexual. and they ALL got cancelled at the same time?

yeeaaah…

In the case of Brooklyn 99 and Last Man on Earth (haven’t seen the other two, sorry) LGBT people of colour, too. :(
