“Black holes are the seductive dragons of the universe, outwardly quiescent yet violent at the heart, uncanny, hostile, primeval, emitting a negative radiance that draws all toward them, gobbling up all who come too close. Once having entered the tumultuous orbit of a black hole, nothing can break away from its passionate but fatal embrace. Though cons of teasing play may be granted the doomed, ultimately play turns to prey and all are sucked haplessly―brilliantly aglow, true, but oh so briefly so―into the fire-breathing maw of oblivion.“

ok I’m rewatching A New Hope right after seeing The Force Awakens, and I just noticed this:

IS THAT

THE SAME GODDAMN TRUNK

THAT REY FINDS LUKE’S LIGHTSABER IN

?!

THE SAME TRUNK

OBI WAN

STORED THE SAME LIGHTSABER IN

WHILE SAVING IT FOR LUKE

AFTER TAKING IT FROM ANAKIN?!

REY IS OBI-WAN’S GRANDDAUGHTER

the jedi mind tricks, the british accent, the mystery of her parents (and the obvious difficulty of them being either han/leia or luke), and the plot symmetry of a Kenobi training Skywalkers to a Skywalker training a Kenobi

I will defend this theory until the movies come out and prove otherwise

I support this theory @blakebaggott

During Rey’s vision you can hear someone that sounds A LOT like Alec Guinness say her name.

It actually *is* Alec Guinness saying her name – followed by Ewan McGregor saying “these are your first steps.”

JJ Abrams said in an interview the sound editors cut out the sound of “Rey” from old audio of Mr Guinness saying “afraid” (and Ewan came in for a bit of post-prod line recording for his). That way they had both the young and old versions of Obi Wan talking to her. :-)

MY JAW LITERALLY DROPPED HOLY SHITNSKEJLDBSLDBWK

This was his [Obi-Wan’s] life now. To protect a baby who didn’t know him, might never know him. To have no one by his side, ever again. To be Master to none, to have his life linked to no one.

To coexist with memories that he could not live with. To have the memory of Anakin be like living fire in his gut.

To get up every day, to stand, to watch, to live, when so many had died.

        And keep on walking.

I think I’m gonna take the whole story to quotes because it’s freaking amazing!

(via knbi)

Sometimes he [Obi-Wan] talked to him in his head. Arguments more furious than the ones they’d had. Talks in which he explained, Master to Padawan, why he’d done what he’d done. Simple words that managed to say everything he’d meant to say, only more clearly than he’d ever been able to say it. In these talks, Anakin listened and understood.

Of course, he was talking to a ghost. Anakin Skywalker was dead.

FEEMOR

IS IT TIME FOR FEEMOR DAY 2016 YET?  NO?  OK BUT STILL –

#assuming feemor actually…er…exists at this point #(which due to the de-canoning of everything is somewhat unlikely but-) #I wonder if he was around when qui-gon died #maybe he went to the funeral #maybe he actually knew obi-wan and thought of him as a younger brother #maybe he died during order 66 #one more dead body on the overwhelming pile of tragedy and terribleness that is obi-wan’s life #oh no I made myself sad

withasingleballoon:

“I never claimed to be the Chosen One. That was Qui-Gon. Even the Council doesn’t believe it anymore, so why should you?”

“Because I think you believe it,” Obi-Wan said calmly. “I think you know in your heart that you’re meant for something extraordinary.”

“And you, Master. What does your heart tell you you’re meant for?”

“Infinite sadness,” Obi-Wan said, even while smiling.
