Here’s Part 1 of this story. Take a second look at panel 8 to experience a little something I call “that feeling when you accidentally draw the saddest thing you’ve ever drawn.” Wow. But I love the concept of sharing birthdays, so here it is. For their birthday, Rocket and Groot are asking for candy, video games, and incendiary devices. You know, birthday stuff!

During the golden age of piracy, one team of adventurers stood out from all others. There was a young orphan raised from infancy by an infamous pirate captain; there were two fearsome sisters who ran rival ships; there was a buccaneer seeking only to avenge his family; there was a beautiful mermaid and a loyal first mate; and there was an angry tree creature and a guy who could turn into a raccoon. Obviously.

Together they are…the Guardians of the Seven Seas. They love crime, the open ocean, a good sea shanty, and each other.

Idea for Infinity War: at some point during the movie all the Guardians of the Galaxy who aren’t Peter (and maybe not Groot either, that’s just too weird) are given some sort of cloaking/shapeshifting/whatever device so they can wander about on Earth free of funny looks

Gamora, Drax and Mantis basically just look like Zoe Saldana, Dave Bautista and Pom Klementiff, and they’re very pleased about that

Rocket is absolutely livid that he looks like Bradley Cooper.

What follows here is not a nice story (although we know how it ends, luckily) but I sort of wanted to have a shot at telling it.

Title: Smile
Fandom: Guardians of the Galaxy
Characters: Mantis, Ego
Summary: Mantis’s life under Ego.
Rating: Um. PG13? It’s not graphic, it’s just… unsettling.
Warnings: Well… this is a story about abuse, and its effects. So there’s gaslighting, and physical violence, and trauma, and… slavery, essentially. Mantis is a slave, even if she doesn’t know it. Plus a sort of vague, menacing misogyny in the background. Also, y’know, it’s partly about Ego, possibly the most casually evil creature the MCU has conjured up.
