It’s been a snowy day here, but we probably aren’t getting a snow day tomorrow, so here’s a drawing of the whole Ravager family enjoying some snow. (Technically, this takes place after my Christmas comic. Yondu has Quill wear his coat, and Kraglin has misjudged Yondu’s tolerance for snow…)
Meet Friar Bigotón (Friar Moustache), aka Brother Carmelo, once a stray dog, now the first canine member of a Franciscan monastery in Cochabamba, Bolivia. He even has a little doggy-sized habit to wear alongside his fellow monks.
Considering that Saint Francis is the patron saint of animals, it seems only right that a Franciscan monastery would choose to adopt an animal in need.
“His life is all about playing and running,” fellow friar Jorge Fernandez told The Dodo. “Here, all of the brothers love him very much. He is a creature of God.”
“If only all the churches of our country [would] adopt a dog and care for him like Friar Bigotón,” Proyecto Narices Frías (Cold Nose Project), a local animal rescue, wrote in a post on Facebook, “we are sure that the parishioners would follow his example.”
Meanwhile it appears that Brother Carmelo is paying it forward by looking after the monastery’s fish:
Over two years have passed since the Department of Awesomely Good Deeds first discovered an awesome ongoing program called The Monster Project (previously featured here) which is all about helping children “recognize the power of their own imaginations and to encourage them to pursue their creative potential.” Based in Austin, TX, The Monster Project invites elementary school students to draw monsters and send them in. Then their team of over 100 professional artists recreates the monsters in their own artistic styles and later shares them with the kids in person.
“…when we deliver these new interpretations back to the students in person, we are able to demonstrate new art techniques within their original creative context. They are able to see what their idea sparked in others.”
Not only are Mark Hamill’s three kids in The Last Jedi, but they are the three Resistance soldiers who poke their heads out to watch Luke Skywalker walk out to face Kylo Ren on Crait.
Even better?
Check out Chelsea Hamill’s character’s name, which definitely isn’t just someone rearranging her actual last name, nope.
Holy shit she looks exactly like Mark, that’s Luke Skywalker guys, holy shit
