I went back and found all the appearances of the troll doll in the two movies, at least all the ones I can locate. Because this is an excellent use of my time. :D
Flying around in the cockpit of the Milano as Peter is escaping Morag early in GotG1.
Next to his stereo, a couple minutes later.
At the end of GotG1 in the orb. (I don’t think we see it again before this scene, but presumably it’s by his stereo the whole time, since he seems to keep it there.)
In GotG2, on the third quadrant’s console. With its hair slicked down to avoid getting in the way of the screens?
At the funeral, being placed by Peter. (And looking noticeably more beat up since we saw it last … which is probably a props department issue, but we can always headcanon that Yondu’s been carrying it around.)
He may have been your father, Quill, but he wasn’t your daddy.
I just had a feeling that I really wish I didn’t have and now I’m gonna make everyone else suffer it with me so brace yourselves You see the way this poor blue bastard smiles after he puts the suit on Quill? That’s the smile of a poor shmuk who knows he’s gonna die That’s the smile if a no good bastard who is totally a-ok absolutly at peace with that That’s the smile of a smug, heart breaking bastard who is content looking at the one good thing he ever done one last time and knows his kids gonna be ok so he can be ok with dying, but I’m not ok Yondu I AM NOT OK T_T
It’s occurred to me that among Yondu’s first lines in the first GOTG, you get “when I picked you up on Terra, these boys of mine wanted to eat you!” And his last line, of course, is “I’m damn lucky you were my boy”
It probably wasn’t intentional, but it’s a pleasing bit of symmetry
