‘There Is No Christmas On Mars’

I know there’s only two or so hours to do til new Doctor Who (squee!) but by a weird coincedence, today is also the first birthday of my DW fic Turn Of The Earth. I wanted to do something to mark it’s birthday…and I’d said I’d probably do a ‘The TotE cast react to the Christmas Invasion.’ fic, so…I did.

Hopefully, this is long enough for people to read during the wait for the show to start. ;)

A/N: It helps to have read Turn of the Earth, to understand this properly, but I can tell you now- Trisha was helping Mickey with his website, and worked out before anyone else did that Bad Wolf was some sort of message for the Doctor or Rose. (Thanks to some nightmares and a mysterious website). So while Mickey and Jackie were with Rose in POTW, she and Shireen and some others were chalking Bad Wolf all over London.

Turn of the Earth, once more

I swear, I’ll stop going on about it eventually.

The other day, I put all the TotE stuff on a webpage. The stories, the cover, and a bit of other stuff, like my fanart. And I figured the fanart might as well go on my LJ, so here it is. All photomanipulations with pictures from gettyimages. :)

‘For the past year, Trisha Delaney had noticed the signs.’ This one’s the worst-looking, but at least she looks like she could be called ‘fat’ in this one. (If anyone has ideas on how to improve it, I’ll listen.)

And…that’s it. Except for one question…is there anyone who’d like to see more stuff with the TotE crowd? I had a vague idea about a The Christmas Invasion fic featuring Trisha, her father, and Shireen, but I haven’t started it yet. Just wonderin’. :)

…a.k.a. how people become too attached to their almost-original characters


 A totally selfish post

I have recently been informed, by doyle_sb4 and Doctor Who Magazine, that one of the next series tie-in websites will be a ‘desperate blog’ written by Trisha herself. Last year I latched onto her name in Boomtown, and wrote her into my ‘what became of Mickey and Jackie while Rose was away?’ fic. All we knew about her from Boomtown was that she was ‘big’ but lost weight; she was from the shop (same one as Rose?); and had a brother called Rob.

I fell in love with her instantly and am quite protective of her these days. This probably puts her somewhere on the Mary-Sue border, but heck, I’ll let you decide that for yourself. Anyway! My mind is spinning. They’re gonna take Trisha and actually do something with her. What will they make her like? Will she be something like Rose, kind but also full of teenage selfishness? Will she be like a female Mickey? (From here, I figure that’s the best option- but that’s just me) Will she be an unsympathetic comic-relief Rose-hater who’s out to steal her boyfriend? Will she be a pathetic Mickey fangirl like me? The word ‘desperate’ seems to point that way…

One interesting thing I remember reading on OG, when it was announced that Mickey was becoming a companion, someone suggested that Trisha would be the next Mickey- the romantic partner left behind. But then they’d have to cast her. Although for what it’s worth, episode 11 features someone called Trish…

Oh woe. April can’t come fast enough.

(Has anyone else ever suddenly found themselves having a, shall we say, ‘adopted character’ suddenly wrenched away from them? HP fans who locked onto names like Blaise and Theodore, I’m looking at you…)

First off…y’know the ending of Turn Of The Earth? With the graffiti? (Trying not give anything away here) Well, take a look at this– see whose name that is on the wall? Squee! I was right!-in a very vague sense. ;)

That’s Trisha on the left. Actually, I think she’s too pretty to be Trisha, but the hair and expression are right, so there she is. :)

And, because I didn’t want to/am too broke to pay for the font, I made the writing by…cutting out individual letters from the novel covers and pasting them. *groans* My fellow cheapskates…never do this. It gives you a headache. ;) Especially since I made the E by putting together bits of F.

But hey…it came out better than I expected. XD
