thunderbirds

lenleg:

ok but we got a email round that all our lecturers are having a Christmas jumper day for charity and I can’t be the only one who needs nerdy professor John Tracy with his dumb dorky atmospheric-pressure induced glasses and a ugly Grandma-knitted Christmas sweater in her life… right?

Thunderbirds -taiey

Oh nice! Have you ever watched it?

[Going by everyone’s 2015 incarnations, although I still think of the original and the reboot being essentially the same show]

Favorite Male Character: At the moment, it’s a toss-up between Scott and John. Scott because he’s got the Burden Of Responsibility thing going on, which is a character trope I enjoy, and John because he’s a weird loner space geek who keeps nearly getting himself killed by his own heroics

Favorite Female Character: Kayo! Of all the characters, she might be the one most improved from her original version, not least because now she gets to do stuff other than cook for the male characters.

Least Favorite Character: I’m not sure I really have one

Favorite Ship: I’m not sure I really have one of those either, so I’ll cheat and name my favourite ship. Thunderbird 2! With 4 a very close second.

Favorite Friendship: The bro-ship between all the brothers.

Favorite Quote: Hmmmm I dunno. It’s not a very quote-y show

Worst Character Death (if any): THERE HAS NEVER BEEN ONE! Ha! I mean, on some level it’s sad to think that in the reboot Jeff is dead (well, probably dead). But on the other hand, he basically got fridged for the character development of everybody else, so I think it was a good decision on the writer’s part

This made me so happy you have no idea Moment: The bit in “Recharge” where Scott confesses how much his father’s death has really hit him

Saddest Moment: Er….see above

Favorite Location: Everyone who’s ever watched Thunderbirds in their life has wanted to live on Tracy Island, right? That one.

These are really good transcripts, wow

Thunderbirds: Heist Society

-I love the modelwork on this show, that shot of the train was great

-But I do wish they’d make a few more ‘human’ models, the women especially look very alike

-I guess it’s confirmed that this version of Brains is really called ’Hiram’, which is not an Indian name (as far as I know) but I suppose it doesn’t really matter at this point

-Hey, this was an episode where the main villain ran around in (holographic) women’s clothing and not a single transphobic joke was made, man how sad is it that that’s worthy of high praise

Hey, my final Thunderbirds Are Go fancast is finally…um….go! Here they are:

Tumblr fave Sebastian Stan as Scott Tracy
Why-the-hell-didn’t-I-think-of-her-earlier Sarah Jane Adventures star Anjli Mohindra as Tanusha ‘Kayo’ Kyrano
Presumably natural redhead Domhall Gleeson as John Tracy
My eternal fave George Blagden as Virgil Tracy
Cheerful blond Graham Rogers as Gordon Tracy
X-Men guy Lucas Till as Alan Tracy
Bewilderingly-hot-without-glasses Dev Patel as Brains
The borrowed-from-the-actual-voice-cast Sandra Dickinson as Grandma Tracy
The also borrowed-from-the-actual-voice-cast Anjoa Andoh as Colonel Casey
The spookily-unchanged-since-2005 Katie Leung as Professor Moffat

Annnnnnnd returning from the 2004 movie, which had terrible writers/producers but a good casting department:

One-time Doctor-lover Sophia Myles as Lady Penelope
One-time Doctor-botherer Ron Cook as Parker
The endearingly-enthusiastic-about-the-original-movie Bill Paxton as Jeff Tracy
And Ben Kingsley as The Hood, except in Sensible Mode rather than Dubious Cold War Asian Stereotype Mode

And we’re done!
