I love them because they’re so SINCERE. (Not that the Webb one isn’t, but…) Watching them is like having a friend run up to you and hug you and just go YOU’RE WONDERFUL AND HEROIC HERE HAVE SOME CAKE AREN’T PEOPLE WONDERFUL LOOK IT’S BRUCE CAMPBELLyes! they’re so comforting.

The past couple of days I’ve been uploading some of my old fanmixes from Livejournal onto 8tracks. In alphabetical order, here they are:

It took ages, I updated the cover art for most of them. Whew.
I was feeling bored (and down) so I did an EXPERIMENT. Type ‘[female character] is’ into Google, see what you get in the drop-down box, and then do the same thing with a counterpart male character (same fandom + same alliance/same role, that sort of thing).
As you can see, ladies get negative words coming up a LOT, and they are very frequently either ‘hot’ or ‘ugly’. Much less of any of that for the blokes. They usually get something related to their identity or role in the story (like ‘Clark Kent is dead’ or ‘Ron Weasley is Dumbledore’). And very little comment on their appearance.
Of the 12 female characters I searched for, 8 of them have ‘annoying’ as something they apparently are. None of the men do. Make of that what you will…
[Two notes 1) I’m a very casual and frequently confused viewer of GoT who hasn’t seen Series Three, so I have no idea if Sansa and Robb are still even on the same side, I just know they’re brother and sister 2) I’m really sorry there aren’t any more women of colour or LGBT women on here, can anyone give any suggestions?]
I’m still calling it now that if it ends up being true that there will be a Peter/Gwen/Harry love triangle in TASM2, NO ONE is going to say shit like, ‘Harry is a slutty bitch for trying to steal Peter’s woman~’ the way the fandom bashes Mary Jane as some sort of home-wrecker out to steal Peter from Gwen or her possible corpse.
Stay transparently sexist and misogynistic with your double standards, fandom!
No-one said that during the last lovetriangleriffic set of Spidey movies either, come to think of it. Everything that went wrong there was apparently 100% MJ’s fault…
(And I love Harry, as is hilariously obvious by just a glance at my Spidey tag, but he does get a pass from fandom for some pretty crappy behaviour. Like that time he was pushing MJ to dress how *he* wanted her to, or the time he yelled at her in front of everyone- we know *why* he acts like that, but it shouldn’t excuse him. Can you imagine what would happen if MJ or Gwen yelled at Peter to ‘keep your mouth shut about things you don’t understand’ in a upcoming movie? People would hate them for it!)
