Harry’s birthday party

It’s Harry’s birthday, but Peter is late due to a fight with the Trapster getting out of hand. Harry’s not pleased. Peter hangs out at the party and hears some businessmen Harry’s trying to make a deal with calling Harry ‘a blithering psychopath’, among other things. Shortly thereafter, they have a punch bowl on their head and mushrooms down their pants. Harry thanks Peter, and they leave together to get pizza. [Amazing Spider-Man Extra #1]

Harry sees his father’s ghost

Slowly, on shaky legs, Harry rose from the chair. The television had been the only illumination in the room; Harry had found the darkness to be of comfort. Now it seemed to be hiding something…some new intruder.
But there was no-one there. He was sure of it. He walked to the door, looked outside the room. Still nothing.
“If thou didst ever thy dear father love, revenge his foul and most unnatural murder.”
Harry whipped around, taking in the entire study with a glance. He suddenly discovered he was seeing better in the darkness than he would have thought. [Spider-Man 2 novelisation]

The original Spider-Man trilogy is campy and cheesy and it probably hasn’t really aged well, but I love it so much and will absolutely recommend it to anyone who likes the MCU simply because (as seen above) it is just so thoroughly uncynical and virtually everyone from Peter to Gwen to Aunt May to Peter’s neighbour to random bystander #563 is SUCH A GOOD PERSON

Harry and MJ on the bridge

Harry kidnaps MJ and takes her to the bridge where his father murdered Gwen. MJ tells him he won’t get the satisfaction of her pleading for her life and Harry is utterly horrified. He only wanted to talk to her and let her know he would never kill her to hurt Peter, the way his father killed Gwen. The two old friends do then talk, but sadly. [Spectacular Spider-Man #200]

if you say ‘harry osborn is a villain’ three times into a mirror then peter parker and mary jane watson will appear and point out to you that, though he has done some awful things, he is severely mentally ill and not remotely out-and-out evil or a killer
