story idea
a superhero story where the villain and the superhero are roommates and they keep making excuses to each other about why they are out all the time and after battles they stitch each other up after battles but neither has any idea that the other is their nemesis and they keep on having to lie to each other why they are covered in scratches and bruises
This is dangerously close to the Peter Parker/Harry Osborn story.

I just saw one of those gifs that labels the characters with one word…it was about Spider-man. Obviously it had Peter Parker as “The Hero”…yada yada. But then it labels Mary Jane Watson as “The Victim”…huh? Baby she’s obviously “The Survivor”. I don’t know how she could be labeled anything but that…there’s nothing wrong with being labeled victim…my problem is that MJ is not that. Unless you buy into stereotypes.
Anyway the ridiculous part was Gwen Stacy-like freaking usual-she was labeled I shit you not as “The Martyr”! Like Jesus? Dude Martyrs are people who die, sacrificing themselves for the greater good of their fellow man. Unless you mean she totally ate it so more worthy characters could grow, then I guess? But come on now. There’s your “Victim”
Seriously done with this character…I barely ever thought about her. Now she’s bloody everywhere. So annoying…
the awkward thing about mindlessly hating gwen is that i was the one that made that gifset, and at the time it was popular in tumblr to use 30 seconds to Mars’ song “this is war” in graphics, which is where the martyr/victim thing comes from. i chose a verse of the song and went with it, but it’s interesting how the mj fandom has now turned into something im quite frankly embarrassed by; any sort of negativity towards mj, even if reasonable, is regarded as another point in gwen’s favor, and any positivity about gwen is suddenly a lie because she was apparently the single worst comic character in history. that sounds off.
so what if gwen isn’t actually a martyr in the story? it was the line that fit my gifset and the only one who died in a similar way than to a martyr was gwen. and so what if mj gets labeled a victim? she is a victim. she’s suffered quite a lot in life and, yes, is a survivor, but also a victim. they aren’t mutually exclusive.

c) Pitting Gwen and MJ against each other is tiresome and largely pointless, especially since they co-existed perfectly happily for years
d) HI I HAVE COME TO ASK PERMISSION TO MAKE A RAIMIVERSE VERSION OF THAT GIFSET MAYBE? Because wow that song fits it so very well.
