After the backlash surrounding Johansson’s role in the film, producers reportedly attempted to quell the controversy with an old standby Hollywood uses to fix a lot of problems: CGI.

According to multiple independent sources close to the project, Paramount and DreamWorks commissioned visual effects tests that would’ve altered Scarlett Johansson in post-production to “shift her ethnicity” and make the Caucasian actress appear more Asian in the film.

Briton Matthew P. Doyle fired off the above tweet yesterday in which he claimed to have asked a Muslim woman to “explain” Tuesday’s terror attacks on Brussels. Twitter users, naturally, had a field day with this one. But it turns out Doyle may have committed a crime as well and was subsequently arrested.

Why Asians Are Being Anything But Quiet About The Offensive Oscars Jokes

This is actually really important, for more than one reason:

1) It demonstrates that, yes, non-white people are capable of making racist jokes.

2) It illustrates the point that, even for some liberals, the “race issue” in America is seen entirely as black and white (no pun intended) and completely ignores other minorities. Yes, only a handful of black people have won acting and directing Academy Awards: even fewer Asian-Americans have. The point of #oscarssowhite was to open up the door to all kinds of diversity, not just for black people.

3) I’m glad I was watching hockey instead of this cringe-inducing nonsense.

I’m sick and tired of people commenting on #BoycottStarWarsVII and leaving out the anti-semitic elements of that campaign that targeted J.J. Abrams. This is a form of anti-semitic erasure and I’m done tolerating it. 

It’s possible to critique the movement for being BOTH racist and anti-semitic. Stop leaving Jews out of your activism. Stop letting anti-semites off the hook.
