The story is every bit as horrible as you’d expect. And of course it comes directly on the heels of another similar story, the murder of Botham Jean.

I know, I don’t live in America. But based on the information I get I thoroughly believe US police should not have guns. They should have full body armour to protect them from being killed, that’s only fair, but no guns. A whole populace is living in fear of the people meant to protect them. It’s insanity.

“I’m shaken. I’m mad. I’m upset. And I feel it’s partly my fault,” Mr Smith told the Star Telegram newspaper about requesting the welfare check. “If I had never dialled the police department, she’d still be alive.”

British police don’t carry guns and yet they rarely get killed on the job. It does happen sometimes but it’s rare. (Yes, I know, I know, generally British criminals don’t have guns either. But the average British police officer does face knives, physical attacks etc on a regular basis and yet they manage okay without firearms. See this, which happened two days ago.)

I’m serious: take the fucking guns away. I can offer absolutely nothing about how to best solve the racism problem, I don’t know anywhere near enough (beyond ‘for the love of god, fire any police officer who makes racist comments, fire them straight away, what is wrong with you?!’) but in the meantime remove firearms from US cops. They’ve proved constantly, over and over again, that they don’t deserve them.

This is not well written. I’m angry. That poor woman had her whole life ahead of her and now it’s gone, all because of some jumpy racist asshole.

Did you guys hear about that 15 year old girl who got hit by a car but then felt okay and refused medical treatment so cops at the scene forcibly arrested her, handcuffed her, picked her up and threw her in the back of a cop car and then pepper sprayed her four times.

But yeah, “the police are really working on protecting the public.”

The police cannot release a potentially injured minor child to the general public without approval of the parents. She refused to give contact information to the police for her parents stating “they watching a football game.” and “I’ma get in trouble.”

When they asked for her parent’s information again she tried to get on her bike and flee the scene. The police are in a bind at this point as if she goes home injured they are liable for any complications or her death should that arise. She was reportedly struck by a car and was not wearing a helmet so there was (IMO) a possibility of a head injury or spinal injury that even the girl may have been unaware of. The officer simply took her by the arm and told her she couldn’t leave until her parents showed up. She kicked him and struggled with him for several minutes until he made the decision to cuff her. At that point she started screaming and struggling and it took two officers to put the cuffs on. Several passers-by started to interfere at this point and the officers tried to put her in the police car where she started deliberately blocking the car door from closing by putting her limbs in the way and became more combative.

The pepper spray was an attempt to get her to cooperate. It is painful and annoying but doesn’t do permanent harm.

The irony of this situation is that people are pissed off because the police are bound by law and regulation to detain children for medical evaluation in an accident because children were released before and were found to be injured or died from undetected injuries without anyone knowing they were hurt.

The police were bound by law to do what they did and it was for the protection of children in the first place. Her attacking the police and throwing the tantrum was the wrong done here.

It used to happen all the time with head trauma. Kids fall at school and get a bump on the head with a small cut and they were sent home and died that night when they went to sleep because they had a brain bleed or some other undetected injury that killed them.

Now every anarchist with toddlers and every anarchist with no kids will jump in and call me a bootlicker but those of us who have raised kids older than toddlers understand that the kids will take a vicious blow to the head and be in real pain but so interested in playing or going somewhere they will act unhurt and then suffer complications and even die. Car versus bike accidents kill two people a day and injure 50,000 people a year. This is no joke and if that was my daughter or my son at that age they would have already been told to just give the police my cell and other contact information and make sure they call me before they get into the police car, but not to fight with police officers. That is not a way to get a positive outcome from the situation.

Unarmed, non-violent 14-year-old, shot 7 times by New Jersey police, but survives

TRENTON – A Trenton teen, Radazz Hearns, 14, was unarmed when he was shot seven times by police officers Friday night while attempting to run from the officers, a lawyer for the teen’s family said Wednesday.

Hearns remains in stable condition at Capital Health Regional Medical Center in Trenton after being shot five times in the right leg, once in the left leg and has a bullet lodged in his pelvis, said the lawyer Samuel A. Anyan Jr.

Two State Police troopers and a Mercer County sheriff’s officer were responding to a report of shots fired at the Prospect Village apartments when they encountered three males and say they got out of their vans to “question them.” 

Rhonda Tirado, one of the witnesses, was in sitting front of her Trenton home Friday around 10:20 p.m. when she saw an unmarked gray minivan abruptly stop across the street and three police officers got out to question the trio of teens.

She saw Hearns run from the officers, and then the gunfire erupted.

“Those police were amped and they didn’t give that little boy a chance,” Tirado said Wednesday, while re-enacting the shooting where the encounter started. “There was no room for no chase. They just shot that little boy right there.”

As he turned and ran, Tirado said she saw him grab his red sweatpants to keep them from falling.

“I don’t think those little boys had no clue what was going on,” Tirado said. “I think they was at the wrong place at the wrong time.”

The police, not really having another story to concoct, pretty much state that this is indeed what happened—except, of course, they claimed that when they shot Hearns, over and over and over and over and over and over and over again, they thought he was reaching for a gun in his waistband.

Except, when they got to him, he had nothing. 

The attorney for Radazz Hearns has stated that not only did police roll up in an unmarked vehicle, they weren’t in uniforms when they got out of the vehicle late at night.

Like magic, though, a full 12 hours after they shot Hearns seven times, police claimed to find a .22-caliber handgun underneath a vehicle on another street.

Right…..Whatever the case, it’s all garbage and this young man should’ve never been shot in the first place.

I’ve been musing on the nature of public service jobs since the video of the Texas pool party surfaced. Because I know the immediate response is “Oh, cops have a dangerous job! They need to protect themselves!” 

Here’s the thing. In 2011 in the US, almost fifteen thousand police officers were injured in an assault on the job. Factoring in the number of police officers in all US agencies that year (a little over 1 million), that is an assault injury rate of… 1.4%? 1.5% if we are being generous?

US nurses have an estimated yearly rate of injury by assault of roughly 1.7 million. The best we have is an estimate of this number because, as someone working in the field, we report a fraction of the assaults that actually happen. It is the one fucking job where you shrug off someone trying to fucking bite you as “oh well, it’s Tuesday.” Factoring in the number of US nurses in 2011 (nearly 4 million) that is a rate of 43%. Nearly fucking half of us. 

We are not trained to take down men built like tree trunks, fucked up on whatever shit they could get their hands on. We are trained to de-escalate people which does exactly jack shit when faced with someone suffering a psychotic break because of the drugs she is on. But we wade in there, often endangering ourselves in the process because it is our fucking job to take care of them. Regardless of what they are trying to do to me or are calling me in the process. 

So, no. I don’t buy it. There is no excuse for manhandling and shooting unarmed children. If a child makes you fear for your safety, you have picked the wrong field my friend. But do not act like the nature of your job necessitates violence. 

When you’re a carer, they teach classes on how to prevent people committing violence to you without committing violence to them. Tiny women are trained to take down grown men without causing actual harm, but cops ‘fear for their lives’ when faced with unarmed teens? It’s disgusting.

Neighbors call police to a Suburb in McKinney,Texas when they learn that a family Invited “too many Black People” to their pool party . Cops Brutalize only black kids.

A McKinney police officer has been placed on administrative leave after a video that had surfaced online of an officer responding to a disturbance at a pool party in Craig Ranch with violence aimed only at the black teens.

The video shows the officer pulling a 14-year-old girl down and shoving her face first on the ground. When several other teenagers tried to help their friend, the video shows the officer pulling out his weapon and aiming it at them. The teenage girl could be heard screaming on the video, “I want to call my mom!!”

Witnesses stated they felt the officer acted inappropriately when dealing with the teenagers.

The neighbors however, said given the situation, they felt the officers “did what was necessary.”

Welcome to America. A country where pulling a gun on a group of kids and shoving them to the ground for “talkin shit” by a police officer is worth it.

This is too much.

Kevin Allen, a 36 year old black man, has been shot and killed inside a library. A library of all places. What would it take for everyone to see that the cops are actually coming for black people?

He was described as a quiet man who frequented the library and liked to watch videos and listen to music at the computer stations. He was shot around 1:35 PM and taken to the hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

How are the racists gonna justify this? Black people getting killed shouldn’t ever be some commonplace occurrence we should just have to accept. This is an epidemic. This can’t be the world we live in.

Cops would kill black people for buying (allegedly stealing) cigarettes, wearing a hood, jaywalking, being in a library, playing with a toy, sleeping, the list goes on and on.

It’s as if white people just want black people to stop existing.

I knew there was evil in the world, but I would’ve never imagined anything like this explosion of racism since August 9th could ever be possible again. And the sheer fact that white people are not only ignoring and disregarding this genocide, but they’d even go to great lengths to justify it. 

How does it feel, looking for reasons to justify murder? Aiyana Jones was only seven. Tamir Rice, only twelve.

Racism is far from over. Kevin Allen, along with the thousands of innocent black people killed in less than one year, never deserved to be forgotten.

This is unjustifiable.

TWO UNARMED BROTHERS SHOT BY POLICE

Two stepbrothers “suspected” of “trying to steal beer from a grocery store” were not armed with guns when they were shot Thursday by a police officer who confronted them in Washington state’s capital city. Thankfully, they both survived but are currently being hospitalized.

The officer is claiming that he was being assaulted with a skateboard before the shooting in Olympia that left one man critically injured and another in stable condition, authorities said. But since there is no video evidence, all we have to go on is their word. 

Officer Ryan Donald was among those who responded around 1 a.m. to a call from a Safeway store, Roberts said. Employees said two men tried to steal beer and then threw the alcohol at workers who confronted the pair. Officers split up to search for the men. Donald encountered two men with skateboards who fit witnesses’ descriptions, and moments later, he radioed in that shots had been fired, the police chief said. The recording of the 911 call was released to the public later that afternoon.

The two men were identified as Andre Thompson, 24, and Bryson Chaplin, 21, both of Olympia. 

The officers were put on administrative leave and the shooting, which is being investigated by a team of detectives from several agencies, has already prompted protests.

According to recently obtained documents from the Cleveland Police Department, 12-year old Tamir Rice was going to be charged with the outrageous crimes of “aggravated menacing” and “inducing panic.”

Dear police: We give those crimes back to you. All across the United States, you have induced panic and served as aggravating menaces and have gotten away with these crimes for far too long.

How dare you ever consider charging this young brother with these crimes. He was no menace, but a sixth-grade boy, and the only reason you or anyone else panicked was because of his brown skin. Here are eight white people who pointed real guns at real people and lived to tell the story.

Here is the bogus criminal report for Tamir.

Notice the following three points.

  1. They list three victims of Tamir Rice:
    1. The State of Ohio 
    2. Officer Loehmann (who shot and killed Tamir) 
    3. Officer Garmback (who drove the vehicle) 
  2. This is essential. They are not claiming Tamir was a menace or induced panic to other people in the park, but to the officers. ABSURD. 
  3. At the end of the report, notice that they say this complaint was “abated by death.“ 
  4. Notice the officer who shot and killed Tamir claims to have had minor injuries.

18 year old Tania Harris was shot twice by police in Robbinsdale, MN yesterday. Police were called to the scene to protect her from a potential fight and are claiming she had a knife but her mother and witnesses are saying that her mother had taken the knife from her before police shot her.

Tania was cuffed and put in the back of the squad car after being shot.

She survived the shooting and is in stable condition.

The local activists are already planning actions around supporting her.
