padme amidala
The brilliance of costume designer Trisha Biggar’s work in Episode I was first revealed in the sophisticated, otherworldly wardrobe of the young Queen Amidala, melding a great variety of cultures, traditions, and fabrics into a unique style that set the prequel costuming standard. The throne room gown is among the most complex pieces and shows the influence of Chinese Imperial Court styles.
“It took almost eight weeks to complete, and began with the manufacturing of an undergarment that resembled an upside-down ice cream cone. The shape of this undergarment was constructed using many narrow panels of canvas that were reinforced with rings of crinoline steel around the hem to keep the shape rigid and support the weight of the fabric, allowing it to skim the floor, creating a floating, gliding effect. The collar, hanging center-front piece, and sleeves were lined in a faux fur and decorated with gold metallic embroidery. The lights at the bottom were in a vac-formed Perspex (acrylic resin), color washed with French enamel varnish.”
when The Phantom Menace was filmed in 1999, the lights at the foot of the gown had to be powered by a car battery, which was carefully hidden between the actor’s legs during filming.
People don’t talk enough about how Padme made the exact same “mistake” her own son would make almost thirty years later.
Everyone remembers that time Luke was training/hiding on Dagobah, but the moment he sensed his friends were in danger he raced to help them, and risked all that they fought for.
“If you choose the quick and easy path…you will become an agent of evil.”
Padme was supposed to be in hiding while trying to prevent a war from starting. She was supposed to be lying low, but as soon as her friend Obi-Wan Kenobi was in danger, she raced off to help him and got captured. The Jedi were forced to intervene violently in order to stop the execution and rescue her little gang, and thus Padme (by no real fault of her own, save the ease with which a certain Chancellor could manipulate her) inadvertently started the Clone Wars.
Like Mother, like Son.
I promised triptych, but it somehow grew bigger ))))
Ok, so the AU is that Anakin didn’t turn to the Dark side, but fought Sidious and won. But he was seriously wounded and soon died (after all, the whole point of his life was to fulfill the Prophecy). Padme gave birth to the twins, but she also did not live long afterwards. Jedi council, being the jerks they are, decided that since Anakin broke the Code, he shouldn’t be given the proper jedi funeral. So Anakin was buried with Padme.
Obi-wan raised the twins, and when he himself died, he reunited with Padme and Anakin. *_*And yes, in the last picture he is holding Anakin’s snippet and padawan braid.

it’s also a part of my flower meaning series: the flowers here are-
Camellia – The camellia flower speaks to the heart and expresses positive feelings. It’s most common meanings are: desire or passion refinement, perfection & excellence, faithfulness & longevity
Gladiolus -The gladiolus flower symbolizes honor and remembrance, but it has other meanings too. It can also symbolize the following: Strength of character, faithfulness, sincerity and integrity, infatuation, never giving up
they both share those flowers.
Happy Mother’s Day to Princess, Queen, and Senator, Padmé Amidala, who fought in two wars, was a founder of the Rebel Alliance, stood against four different Sith Lords, stayed true to her values and morals during the destruction of the entire government/democracy that she’d helped build, was a supportive wife, and was a mother to the two kids who’d eventually bring balance to the force and save the entire galaxy. She’ll never get even a fraction of the praise and applause she deserves, not that she’d ever worry about that.
