MJ in
Spider-Man 3: Meet the Heroes and Villains
:D
(also, kudos for them acknowledging that acting is hard and MJ is a hard worker and she’s not frittering her life away on some vapid profession, as some folks would have it.)
IDK how you feel about tie-in novels, Sarah, but I think you’d really like Diane Duane’s Spider-Man novels – each of them has a major secondary plot running about MJ finding work (my favorite was the one featuring her brief stint as a voice actress for a superhero cartoon). Her acting career is pretty important in Adam-Troy Castro’s Gathering of the Sinister Six, too.
(GSS is regrettably hard to find cheap these days, but Duane’s trilogy is basically a pittance + shipping on both Amazon UK and US. FOR THE RECORD.)
OMG yes I love tie-in novels. That sounds awesome! (And you’re right, they’re super cheap. :D)
The Surprising, Subtle Feminism of the Spider-Man Trilogy
Guys! Guys! This was on the backburner for over a year, as you probably know, but now it is done and UP!

I was ready to write off the new Spidey Rerebootboot, because
a. Peter as a teenager is very boring to me, personally, and I matter most.
b. I’m burned out on superhero stories about guys.
c. I don’t trust Marvel to recognize Mary Jane Watson’s importance to the Spider-man Mythos.BUT NOW Zendaya’s joined the cast as M…ichelle. Which, ok, not ideal, but at least now Zendaya as MJ is in the air. People (me) are talking about how great she’d be. I’m sure there is a hashtag. I’m just really hoping that Marvel lets this happen for me. I won’t be satisfied with a “My name is Joseph Robin Levitt” reveal that her middle initial is J. She’s gotta be MJ. Please let her be MJ.
hope….dangles on the a string.
