Good.

You know what they did to that man (who is black, btw?) They posted pictures to go with the article which showed him looking “shifty” and drinking alcohol. I refuse to believe they couldn’t have found better photos, it’s not difficult, but they chose those ones. Going after someone who’s lost everything and probably feels terrible enough already (not that it’s even remotely his fault).

The Daily Mail disgusts me, violently disgusts me, every single day.

Government launch urgent Grenfell Tower fire investigation after Chelsea woman reports soot stains on her net curtains

by Danny SoZ

Prime Minister, Theresa May, has ordered a top-level enquiry into the causes of the devastating fire that raged through 27 floors of Grenfell Towers in North Kensington yesterday after the wife of a venture capitalist complained to her local authority that soot and small fragments of burnt debris from the fire had collected on her net curtains.

Mrs Mary Fotherington-Smythe, 52, told reporters gathered outside her home in Cheyney Walk, Chelsea, last night: “The Filipina girl had just washed the nets and hung them at the window to the billiards room when I noticed that some sooty smuts had been blown onto them from that blasted fire up the road in the poor area.

“It really is not good enough and I have complained personally to The Lord Mayor of London who expressed his concern and has informed the Prime Minister.

“It’s bad enough that my husband and I were kept awake half the night by all the fire engines and ambulances that were going to the aid of these wretched people.

“I don’t wish to appear heartless, but if these individuals didn’t wish to be incinerated in their homes they should have moved to somewhere decent like Reigate in Surrey.

“We have friends there in actual fact and you never hear of them having to endure fire debris and the burnt remains of their neighbours soiling their net curtains”

In other news, firefighters continue to search the still smouldering building for more bodies. The present death toll is 12. A figure that is expected to rise significantly as the grim search continues.

Did I ever tell you guys I used to live in a building with the most unimaginable (except…not, obviously) fire safety standards? Nothing worked, the windows barely opened, the washing machine would leak…but the worst thing was, there was no fire escape, not a proper one. There were technically stairs leading outside of the building, but they were always blocked with people’s old mattresses and rubbish bags. Once you managed to get down them, you got to a small, overgrown courtyard and a door that was always locked and chained. If there ever actually had been a fire…

(Once, our oven suddenly unleashed a flame for no reason at all. We went to get the fire extinguisher and found it didn’t work. Luckily, nothing happened, it just went out.)

(And while the building did have a fire alarm, it was next to useless. It would go off once a week – alright, once a month maybe, it just feels like it was literally every other day – and blare for sometimes the entire night. No-one would have taken it seriously unless they literally smelled smoke.)

There will absolutely be more Grenfell Towers as long as developers continue to cut corners with the places where people live.

Everything I’m hearing about the Grenfell Tower disaster is just fucking devastating. I have some clothes I was gonna give to the local charity shop this week, but does anyone think I should save them and try to send them to London instead? I know community centers are absolutely packed with donations right now, but on the other hand we’re talking hundreds of people who have literally lost every scrap of clothing they had…

(And once everyone is rehoused and the dead are given funerals, whoever’s lax standards allowed this should be prosecuted and punished.)
