Torchwood-
This was definately the best episode yet, I thought. Helen Raynor’s one, right? And she’s writing for Who next year, so hopefully that’ll be just as good.
I think Owen lost some of his arseholeness in this episode? Seeing a girl be raped and murdered practically in front of him might well have made him realise that some of the stuff he’d done wasn’t a million miles from that- maybe he saw a bit of himself in the murderer, hence all the angst and rage. I can’t exactly like him, but he’s interesting.
I like Gwen, though. She’s a bit like Rose but without the selfishness, and I can picture myself reacting muchly the same way as her in some of the situations she ends up in.
Her boyfriend is adorable too. I hope he ends up with more to do later on.
Jack is…hmmm, he didn’t have that much to do this time around. Except now he can’t die and can’t sleep. What’s next? ;)
Robin Hood-
Confession time: although I am enjoying Torchwood, I’m actually enjoying this more! It’s more…fun. Or something. The dialogue could improve, but most of the things the first episode got wrong are pretty much fixed now (acting’s better, directing’s better…) so it might be time to tune back in again if you turned the first episode off. ;)
Anyway, I thought episode four was very good. It didn’t take the obvious route (most shows would have had it be a comedy episode -a bunch of blokes trying to look after a baby), there was a fair amount of character development, and there was an ending I geniunely didn’t see coming. And many attractive people, occasionally with their shirts off.
It has also just occured to me the double meaning of the episode title: ‘Parent Hood’ obviously refers to Robin, but it just as easily applies to Roy’s mother as well. Sigh. I hope she shows up again, come to think of it…
So…there. :p Must make icons for this shiny new show…
By the way, I bought a £75 jumper today. The most I’ve ever spent on a single item of clothing. But it is a very nice jumper.
I’m…not sure what I think of it so far. I like Gwen an awful lot, and I have a superfical sort of crush on John Barrowman, and of course I’m likely to watch it anyway, but…I don’t know! It just sort of weirds me out a little, knwoing that this stuff takes place in the Doctor Who universe, and yet it’s full of sex and violence while DW isn’t…one of the main reasons I like DW, I sometimes think, is because it’s for kids and adults and you can know it all your life. While Torchwood is just for adults. Oh, I dunno.
I don’t like Owen much. That spray stuff he was using to pull that chick in the bar just smacked of creepyness. What’s the difference between that and a date rape drug? Or am I reading too much into it? Damn.
Wasn’t expecting Suzie to die in the first episode. Er, will they bring her back? Since they still have the body and all…
I quite like Ianto, although he didn’t have much to do. And I want to know more about that pterodactyl. How long until somebody writes any Torchwood member/Pterodactyl? ;)
I am attempting to remain unspoiled for Torchwood, but I hear there’s a Big Important Spoiler about Jack doing the rounds. Weirdly enough, I can’t imagine what it is. (He did something terrible in his two missing years? He actually did rebuild the Earth and all that? He shagged the Doctor?) Which makes me more excited. Heh.
I have Freeview in the flat now, by the way!
Not many people took any of my recent batch of icons. Or commented if they did. Woe. Maybe I should go back to multi-fandom posts, although I did sort of go off them when they started to only load slowly if at all.
