Two weeks ago, my father was diagnosed with cancer. My Dad hasn’t been able to work for quite some time; he has a neurological/muscular disease in the same family as MS. He can’t do basic tasks, like cooking, cleaning, driving, or writing his name. Most days he can barely walk across the room even with the help of a cane and someone at his elbow. With this cancer diagnosis, his already poor health has taken a nose dive.

I didn’t want to have to create a fundraiser for my Dad, but the fact of the matter is: we are alone. My Dad has no friends; getting out of the house for him is laborious and has to be reserved for days when he has doctors’ appointments. We have very little family. His side of the family is all dead and my mother died six years ago from cancer. Because of this, I find that I am his primary (and mostly sole) caregiver and his financial support.

I am swallowing my pride and asking for help. I am struggling to keep him fed and pay his medical bills, which will only get worse as we begin treatment and management of his cancer. His bank account is already overdrawn from paying previous medical bills and his social security simply isn’t enough to make ends meet. I am doing what I can, but I simply don’t make enough money to pay for everything.

Even if you can’t donate anything (and trust me, I totally get that), I would really appreciate it if you would help signal boost this.

anyway over 400 people are dead in Sierra Leone and hundreds are missing by a horrific mudslide and it really sucks how it’s not being talked about just because it’s not a western country. helpers can donate to Save the Children’s Sierra Leone Mudslide Relieft Fund. It’s okay if you can’t donate, not everyone has it like that. but it doesn’t hurt to spread the world about this heartbreaking tragedy that is happening in a 3rd world country.

so early this morning (8/14) heavy rainfall led to a horrible landslide in Sierra Leone

https://www.theguardian.com/world/2017/aug/14/deaths-sierra-leone-mudslide-regent

There have so far been 312 confirmed deaths but people are still digging through the rubble. Thousands of people are now homeless. It’s horrific, and to make things worse of all is that this was preventable. The horrible disaster was a result of carless construction on hills and terrain that was unsuitable just for the profit of the minister (a minsiter is the person who owns the land and gets paid to have people build on it) even though he was aware the land was unsuitable, he let construction happen away. This lead to hundreds of buildings being built on an unstable hillside and eventually crumbling. Keep Sierra Leone in your prayers.

please reblog, it’d be nice if more people were aware of what happened for when donations start becoming available (hopefully)

Are there any donations set up for the people, stores, etc? Or any organizations that are directly helping?

http://www.thesierraleonetelegraph.com/?p=16869

The Sierra Leone Telegraph set up a place for donations if you want to help! They have less than 1% of their goal raised right now, and these donations will be used to help the victims of this horrible flood

Hey, I’m looking for a name change buddy.

I’m NB Alex, moving on from Amanda.

I need to find a trans or NB Amanda moving on from Alex.

I want to trade, because I think that will help me feel more settled and comfortable, ‘cause right now it still feels stiff and weird.  I think some human contact would help me feel like part of my own story again.

I’m dead serious, if you are an ex-Alex Amanda, I want to mail you my old name on a piece of paper, and have you mail me yours.

Please reblog or pass on to any folks you might know.

I will update this post if I find someone, thank you!

hey lads.
my name’s evren, i’m a gay trans man.

i recently came out as trans to my parents and hadn’t really heard from them, save ominous things that increased my anxiety and aggravated other health conditions (i just got over the flu and currently have tonsillitis! ty body!).

i was basically ordered to visit my dad and went in order to hear what he had to say. i just got back from our ‘chat’.

he thinks that my transition is wrong, second only to “living in a crack den” and wants me to detransition immediately so that we can go to conversion therapy. it’s booked for next week.

i am currently jobseeking, but as a nd/mi person and a non-passing Tran this is kind of hard.
i am also financially dependent on my dad until i find a job, so i can’t ignore his demands without losing my home and meagre income.

if you have any coins to spare at all, my paypal is hrfilgate@gmail.com. i’m located in london, so any non-monetary support would be great too. if you can’t do anything, please do signal boost.

So after months and months of being knocked back because seemingly every neurologist in this state has a year-long waiting list, I have finally found a neurologist who specializes in my ludicrously rare and degenerative neuromuscular condition.

I’ve basically been on a downward slide over the last year, I have days where it is almost physically impossible just to type at a keyboard let alone drag myself to uni, and I cannot seem to communicate the scope of how disabling and terrifying my condition is to anyone. About once a month I am ending up in hospital and it needs to end because I can’t fail my degree.

this is the only neurologist in the state, possibly the country who specializes in ion channelopathy diseases and unfortunately she’s private practice, and I don’t have insurance because I’m on disability pension. The initial consult fee alone is hundreds of dollars and the nerve conduction studies to figure out what’s going on cost even more than that.

If anyone could toss a few dollars my way to help with the consult fee I would be so grateful you would not believe.

Please.

I’m kinna at the end of my rope.

attention the trans and nonbinary community living in the UK: the government is planning on streamlining and de-medicalising the process for legally changing your gender!

“currently individuals need a diagnosis of gender dysphoria and have to provide evidence that they have been in transition for at least two years before they can apply to legally change their gender” which is a bs procedure that is unnecessarily long.

image

in order to do so, the government is running a survey for people in the community who are 16 yo and older and currently living in the UK. the survey is anonymous and can be taken here.

the survey will run from the 23rd of july 2017 to the 15th of october 2017

@wetwareproblem @vaspider @thebibliosphere boost please? :D

some of you may know me, mostly from my cleverman shitposting, but a lot of you probably don’t, so here’s a brief breakdown!

my name is cat, or kitty, i’m almost 23, i am a black trans person and I live in melbourne, australia. lots of you might remember my 2014 (was it really that long ago wow) fundraiser to get myself a power chair, which I have and I love! in the time between then and now, my quality of life has been vastly improved, even with my somewhat grim diagnosis.

     however

A power chair is just not what I need most of the time. For going from here to Geelong, it’s great. For hospital and school, however, it’s really difficult, frustrating and anxiety-inducing, and in the past 2 months, I have wound up stranded with a dead battery over a dozen times — most of them in the last fortnight. I also really need to build up muscle in my shoulders to stablise the joints as best I can, so my doctor has recommended I do this.

Anyone who’s ever looked into this knows that this isn’t cheap. Given the requirements I have (listed on the fundraiser), I need a customised chair, which the NDIS does not provide to adults most of the time.

10k includes the cost of my chair (between 5k and 8k, I was quoted) as well as necessary accessories (my current bag system won’t work for a manual chair). My power chair also desperately needs maintenance and new batteries, which can cost upwards of 1k.

               other stuff !!

I can also give my paypal email address on request, but I just don’t like giving it out publicly. If you send it via paypal.me, please tell me if it’s for medication/rent or wheelchair fundraiser.

If you can’t donate, please share. I really need this.
