This is not an okay way to talk about female characters. While working toward a society that is more respectful toward women and less violent, we can’t continue to talk about women this way, even fictional women.

You seem really young, so I’m trying not to be too harsh about this, but really think about this post and consider the implications of it.

If you’re not in this fandom, don’t discuss the characters. Irene Adler sexually assaulted Sherlock Holmes. Gave him a date rape drug. Hit him. Got on him. Naked. We are allowed to find those actions disgusting. Because they are. What if Irene was a man, and Sherlock was a woman? How horrible do those same actions seem now?

Spill that TEA👏👏👏👏☕️☕️☕️

Oh for fuck’s sake. That’s precisely the point.

Irene Adler as a woman drugs Sherlock Holmes, hits him, and the fandom thinks it’s disgusting and threatens violence on her.

Sherlock Holmes as a man drugs John Watson, hits him, and emotionally manipulates him into thinking he’s going to die to force him to forgiveness and the fandom adores him and offer excuses and rationalizations and explains it all away as Twu Wuv.

Double standard much?

Apparently J.K Rowling knows the exact process to making a horcrux.

But she hasn’t told anyone and doesn’t plan to yet.

The only person that she has told is her editor, and said that her editor felt like vomiting afterwards.

All she will say is that a certain spell is involved, and then a horrific act is performed.

i want to know what it is so badly

Okay, let’s think about this for a second.

We know that making Horcruxes involves murder. It’s essential. So the “certain spell” is probably Avada Kedavra….with some extra words added to it to use the energy created by the death to split the soul.

What intrigues me is the “horrific act” aspect and the fact that the editor wanted to vomit after hearing it. So what could that be? It can’t just be the act of murder itself, which, as horrifying as that is, is exactly vomit inducing in the grand scheme of things.

So if we take the murder itself out of the equation, what other activity could be considered horrific enough to make someone want to ralph? Well, my warped mind can think of at least two.

1) Necrophilia. Now I don’t actually think this is the answer, but it’s gross enough to make anyone vomit on the spot, so I’m throwing it out there. I just don’t think that’s it at all. My personal theory is…

2) Cannibalism. There are a lot of cultures that believe that to eat the flesh of one’s enemies is take your enemies’ power into yourself. Most specifically the heart, though really any flesh or organs would do. So does Voldemort eat the dead as his “horrific act”? I think this one is the most likely and is grotesque and taboo enough that it turns the stomach.

Also, consider this fact: HIS FOLLOWERS ARE CALLED DEATH EATERS.  Hmmm. Weird, right?

There’s an obvious problem in these theories though. If either these acts is essential to creating the Horcrux, HOW DID VOLDEMORT ACCIDENTALLY CREATE A HORCRUX WHEN HE TRIED TO KILL HARRY AS A BABY AND NOT KNOW IT? Voldemort didn’t have time to cannibalize Lily. And he certainly didn’t sexually assault her corpse, thank GOD. So how did he turned Harry into a Horcrux that night in Godric’s Hollow?

Consider this: nowhere in the text does it say that Voldemort’s physical body was found in the wreckage of the Potter’s house. Perhaps when the spell rebounded on him….he…ate himself. Not physically chewed himself up and swallowed, but more in a magical way. Think of it like the house being sucked into the Other Side at the end of Poltergeist.

His spirit was so corrupted that it devoured his physical body when the Killing Curse was turned back on him. That would be the cannibalistic act needed to create the Horcrux. And perhaps Voldemort wouldn’t realize that it was a cannibalistic act? He probably wouldn’t even think to consider the fact that his rotten, fractured soul ate his body.

So there’s my theory. What do you think?

Kam Brock says she is definitely not crazy, but eight days in the Harlem Hospital psych ward being treated for delusions and bipolar disorder make it look otherwise.

According to the New York Daily News, the whole ordeal started when Brock’s car was seized by the NYPD, who suspected she was high on weed and confiscated her car even though they found no marijuana. When Brock returned to claim her car, she was understandably upset, but not upset enough to justify what happened next.

“Next thing you know, the police held onto me, the doctor stuck me with a needle, and I was knocked out,” Brock said told the Daily News. “I woke up to them taking off my underwear and then went out again. I woke up the next day in a hospital robe.”

In an attempt to explain her situation to the hospital workers, Brock tried a character reference that epically backfired. “I told (the doctor) Obama follows me on Twitter to show her the type of person I am. I’m a good person, a positive person. Obama follows positive people!” she said.

But apparently, the hospital didn’t believe her. Nor did they believe that she worked at a bank. As hospital records show, her treatment was intended to get her to face the “reality” that she was unemployed and that Obama was not following her.

After eight days of group therapy and sedatives, as well as doses of lorazepam and lithium, she was released without explanation.

Then, on top of everything else, Brock received a bill for $13,637.10 from the hospital.

Since then, she has filed suit for unspecified damages. As she continues her crusade for justice, she has one wish: “Follow me on Twitter! Like Obama does!”

What really kills me about this is a few things
False drug charges
Took someone’s property
Respectability politics fell through
Wasted this woman’s time
Racist belief that black people can’t be wealthy/powerful/connected landed this woman in a hospital
She is deemed bipolar and delusional
She is deemed BIPOLAR AND DELUSIONAL
SHE IS DEEMED BIPOLAR AND DELUSIONAL IN THE EYES OF WHITE SUPREMACY BECAUSE SHE KNOWS THAT SHE IS A BANKER AND WEALTHY
She has her clothes removed without her consent, which I’m sure violates a couple medical standards
She is then charged extreme amounts of money for services she got AGAINST her will
You can basically outright say that the cops were working in tandem with the hospital, and it wouldn’t surprise me if they had it out for her by the virtue of her money.
There’s so many levels to this fuckery it makes my head spin, the fact that people STILL don’t think institutional racism is a thing kills me. This is such a far gone example of it, yet it’s still so close to reality that no one is surprised. From the ground up this system will game the fuck out of you and I hope it burns to ashes someday.

Friendly reminder that this creepy moment existed.

#she was laughing at her husband and son#people who she loved dearly enough to give up her life#and snape took that and cut them out of it so he could pretend she was laughing for him#her love in the letter was for sirius who was best man at her wedding and her good friend who fought at her side in the order#and snape took that so he could pretend her love was for him#snape is fucking trash and this is not romantic at all

this this this this this omg this si so disgusting this guy is a creep who feels entitled to Lily’s love even though he’s done nothing to deserve it

  • childhood friend who you love dies
  • you are barely 21
  • misses her, so you take a picture of her, cutting out the man who sexually assaulted you and bullied you for 7 years
  • spends the rest of adult life protecting son of childhood friend
  • never kills muggles or muggleborns
  • dies protecting son
  • tumblr labels you a creep
  • childhood friend who stopped being your friend because you called her a racial slur while she was defending you against said bullies, is murdered in her own home by the homicidal maniac you pledged your loyalty to, and she was chosen as a target specifically because of information you provided
  • your age is irrelevant unless your own bullies are also excused for their nasty shit given they’re the same age at that point
  • you missing her does not entitle you to mutilate photos of her with her family or letters to her friends so that they better suit your taste, especially since her orphaned son would have wanted that photo and letter whole and undamaged. You could have gotten copies of the relevant page of the letter and relevant half of the photo and left the originals intact, but no, you didn’t want anyone who wasn’t you to have it, now did you?
  • spends adult life resenting the ever living hell out of being expected to protect the son you helped to make a target of aformentioned homicidal maniac in the first place, and takes that resentment out on said son by bullying him and trying to get him expelled (yeah what a protective idea – get the kid’s wand snapped, that’ll help keep him safe!)
  • bullies a muggleborn student for daring to be good at his class and also bullies another child that was left without parents because of other Death Eaters
  • holds onto hatred of child you helped to orphan until your literal last moments on Earth
  • your creator confirmed that if your homicidal maniac boss had chosen a different infant and parents to butcher, you’d still be loyally serving him with no moral qualms whatsoever
  • a disturbingly large portion of the fandom blames everything you’ve ever done wrong on a) the kids who bullied you in high school, b) your boss who kept you out of prison (despite your personal admission to his face that you set a family up to be killed) and gave you a position of mentoring over one quarter of the student body, c) the childhood friend you lost for daring to give up on you at all, d) the kid you orphaned (and his friends) for doing things like reminding you of the parents he never got to know and other clearly unforgivable shit like that, e) your parents (of whom very little is currently known), and f) basically anyone that isn’t you.

Snape wasn’t Voldemort the second, but he sure as hell was no misunderstood martyr.

“the man who sexually assaulted you”? I have not heard this one before. Where in the books is James supposed to have sexually assaulted Snape? What?

The only thing I can think of is the fact that Snape’s undies were (supposedly) exposed in Snape’s Worst Memory which I guess would be considered sexual assault, but um. Yeah that really could have just been “assaulted.”

Geez. I’m gonna go and say that calling that sexual assault is an affront to every victim of actual sexual assault. :p It’s got to be it, though, you have to be right. There’s nothing else that this could be referencing.

Yeah like. I’m not saying it wasn’t a crappy thing for James to do but on the sex crime continuum, it doesn’t register, given the context (or lack thereof).

Agreed that Severus very much has his issues, but I really hate the fandom mentality of either James is perfect, or Severus is perfect.  They both did some pretty Godawful things. At the end of the day, I respect Lily’s choice of James and rejection of Severus and the path he was taking, though I also respect Severus’ right to refuse to forgive James (even if I don’t agree at all with how he took it out on others).

But they’re potentially on point with the sexual assault comment.  James says, and I quote from ch 28 of OotP, “Who wants to see me take off Snivelly’s pants?”

Forcibly stripping someone you’ve made helpless of any item of clothing with intent to intimidate or humiliate them with the shame of nudity certainly pings on the sexual assault spectrum.

American vs British English also makes a difference.  Pants to an American would mean taking off Snape’s trousers, jeans, etc. Which is bad enough, but also it’s made clear that Snape is only wearing underwear beneath his robes with “skinny, pallid legs and a pair of graying underpants.” (This being book version, where it seems implied wizarding robes are an all-in-one garment rather than the open version seen in the movies).

And pants, to a Briton and very clearly in this case, is underwear.  James is yelling about publicly and forcibly taking off Severus’ underpants. So if James did indeed do it, I’m gonna agree with the sexual assault comment here.

“By now most members of the Comic-Con and cosplay community are likely aware that early Sunday morning a female cosplayer was found unconscious at the 333 West Harbor Drive Marriott Marquis and Marina hotel. It was the girl’s first visit to Con, and her seventeenth birthday. We spoke to a Harbor Police Sergeant who asks that anyone with information reach out by e-mailing sdhpiwatch@portofsandiego.org.”
