I always hated the idea of mentor characters getting killed off so early because there’s usually so much story left in them. Also it would feel wrong to have him simply bounce back after being stabbed through the spinal cord, so I got loads of good ideas for a character arc where he simply has to relearn everything. It really opens for some further character exploration we never saw in the movie.
And seeing him interact with Dooku at all would be such a feelsy moment I just had to set it up.. In the drawing I actually drew his outfit to slightly resemble Dooku’s on purpose. It’s not really visible but his lightsaber is modified slightly so it’s curved like his former master’s. He still retains remains of his preferred ataru style of course, but it’s only for short bursts when the opponent’s defense is down (he’s learned form experience that flips and jumps are tiring, esp if the opponent doesn’t break as fast as expected). The exoskeleton amplifies this, but can only do this if it’s has time to charge for such a jump.
its also a perfect excuse for me to practice drawing more robotics bc who doesn’t like robotics haha
i almost burst into tears in the middle of class because of a gifset of qui gon gently touching obi wan’s face right before he dies like
G O D that scene is so powerful??? say what you will about the phantom menace but honestly qui gon’s unspoken, regretful, loving farewell conveyed through the lightest of finger touches to his padawan’s face is honestly one of the most emotionally powerful moments in the entire series
“train the boy” he says. but i cant help but think what he’s really saying is “goodbye”
