Now that you’ve got the rights back to Spider-Man and are making another film about him, you may wish to put Harry Osborn in it! Here is a quick guide for you regarding some important characteristics of the Green Goblin’s son:
1) He’s mentally ill
2) It’s not the ‘cute’ kind of mentally ill*
*Whatever that is
3) He also has addiction issues, which he tries hard to overcome
everybody has that one fictional character that they irrationally adore above all others and will defend to the death and you just get super happy and excited whenever you see their face on your dash
He was my first ever introduction to Harry! So I like him a lot, even though I have grown to strongly dislike James Franco over the years.
Um, I like that he still has hallucinations and clear addiction issues, and that he’s flawed and actually kind of a douche sometimes (because he was in the comics too) but still fundamentally a good person and not exactly good at supervillan-ly (his grand plan to DEVASTATE his enemy was to…GET HIS GIRLFRIEND TO DUMP HIM) and that his love for Peter/MJ/his father (even though he may not have deserved it) usually shines through. I dig him. Although he’s waaay too pretty.
Also, I still wonder to this day whether the adaptation of Harry Osborn’s character in The Amazing Spider-Man 2 counts as ‘annoying to me personally’ or ‘actually harmful’.
I LOVE HARRY OSBORN A LOT okay, so. he had a big problem with / story arc revolving around drug addiction!! back in the days when he + flash + mj + gwen were a little gang that orbited around peter. so, before, during, and just after gwen’s death and he’s been dealing with the mental and emotional affects ever since. their friendship was significant enough I feel like it was a huge waste not to tie in their recovery stories at all especially once harry was brought back. :(
(I have written meta about him here although I haven’t read it over in a while because I am terrible about updating those blogs HAHA. so much energy / mental focus necessary for that.)
also there was a newspaper story where they opened a disco together.
