“What kind of father would I be to let you make this choice”

The fact that Ego says this line while they show Yondu fighting his ass off to keep Ego from getting to Peter, is fucking beautiful. Like this is phenominal editing! Showing Yondu protecting Peter – HIS BOY – and facing the man that talked him / bribed him into breaking the Ravager code while having Ego’s booming voice say this line… It’s fucking beautiful okay!

Not to mention what a fucked up line. Like it’s a very manipulative line but also just so self-centered. Me me me. What kind of person would I be if I let you do that. All about himself. That’s all Ego is… So that fact he’s saying this selfish, manipulative line OVER shots of Yondu fighting Ego and standing his ground with Peter…. God it’s everything to me! It’s everything to show that Ego sucks ass and is the WORST father ever and that Yondu is an example of a TRUE father, flaws and all.

I fucking love this fucking movie…

Been reading some awesome fanfics. So this happened. (I haven’t drawn anything in years! Its not 100% finished, but I’m done workin on it….)

AU: Meredith & Peter both get picked up by Yondu. She gets Cybornetics to fix her brain (she basically becomes a super hero too). They form the Guardians, free slaves, have adventures, typical ‘Robin Hood-ing’ across the galaxy.

Also just an excuse to draw a girl Ravager outfit. (was watching ‘Civil War’ at the time. Heavy Scarlet Witch influence)  But mainly I just want less tragedy for these three) The main canon story is my favorite, and I wouldn’t change it for anything, but a little escape to pocket universe is ok sometimes.

When I do another pic, Kraglin will Definitely be in it! He is such an important part of these storys.

Thanks to Every amazing person in the ‘Guardians of the Galaxy’ fandom here who inspire me with their amazing stories, RPs, head-canons, ideas, analysis, and art. Love you all.

#apparently this dude thinks that since gamora’s not dating quill yet she must not have a vagina?#or something like that i just skimmed through the article tbh#this dudes just like ‘that’s the only reason why they’re not fucking by now’#this dude is grossly misogynistic#he’s acting like gamora’s just there to be peter’s love interest#idk man but maybe she’s reluctant to be in a relationship because she’s had a terrible and abusive childhood???#that made her reluctant to form relationships??? (Slight spoilers for GotG 2)

You know, it’s understandable that Yondu keeps his name in the cinematic universe, since it’s his name in all the GotG media… but I do wonder, with his backstory as a battle slave and being sold as a baby already – where did he get his name from, at least in the MCU?

I don’t understand much about slavery, but I think slavers would only give their “property” a name so that they can directly call them. There’s not much to the name – it could even be a number, a color, or just a job description. It’s not like the owner will care about a good and real name for his slaves.

It would make sense when someone named him “Yondu”, at least so that they had something to call the Centaurian by.

Yondu, however, has a family name, too. “Udonta”.

So I’m here wondering – who gave him that name?

Yondu himself? Did Stakar’s crew name him properly, because he was now free and not a slave anymore and deserved a name? Did they join forces and did some research of Yondu’s background, about his homeplanet, his family, and really gave him the name he would have gotten if he had gotten to grow up normally? Or did
someone else name him?

Marvel, James Gunn, I need a movie with Yondu’s backstory, please and thank you.

And one with Kid Peter and the Ravagers, too, while we’re at it.

I thought about this too… My headcanon’s a little weak, but i think he named HIMSELF Yondu Udonta.

Like, say there was another Yondu Udonta from long ago who was a great warrior and when *our* Yondu was saved, he got to pick a new name to start his new life. He chooses a name of a warrior, one that the other slaves spoke of with awe…this warrior is a legend, his stories passed down for generations and was saved from being lost by those that knew life BEFORE the Kree…

and it fits him, because he is strong, he has endured, and he becomes a legend in his own right.

This is not only a good headcanon, it is also by far the most elegant way I’ve ever seen of working Original ‘60s Not A Space Pirate Yondu into the MCU.

And at some point in the far distant future, the legends of the two warriors of the same name will merge and he will come to be known as immortal.

One of the reasons why the “second” – our – Yondu’s story becomes a legend at all being the fact that he was tightly linked with the Guardians of the Galaxy, whose story evolves into a stellar legend pretty fast…

… And on top of that, he is known as Starlord’s father, which makes him just all the more important.

Yondu and Peter for the amazing story Hope is a Feathered Thing
by the equally amazing @laylainalaska!
just fun family times in space! Peter getting a pet and looking happy and Yondu looking much more annoyed than he actually is! :D

also now that i look at my space pet it’s strongly reminds me of this dog in alien costume from Star Trek lol but maybe there exists an alien dog that looks like a regular dog in a costume??? who knows
