After reblogging that post about the passed away fan who had his likeness put into Fallout Nuka World, I went looking for him in the game. I found him and talked to him and then I went into his hut and automatically (since I loot pretty much everything) took 10 caps from his toolbox. Then, despite not suffering any consequences – his stuff was free to take – I felt really bad because that was a real person. So I left some comics and sloth plushies lying around his house to make up for it, even though that would have absolutely no impact on anything whatsoever.

Video games. They’re a strange and wonderful medium.

He’s actually a brother of a user on
Reddit known as NoohjXLVII; the user had lost his father a year ago and
built an Automatron Sentry Bot named GR-36 (Greg). The bot would venture
into the Commonwealth as a companion so that he would never forget his
father.

Afterwards, the Redditor’s

brother, Evan, had been sent to ICU due to
diabetes and the hospital said he didn’t have much time left. After he
finished posting his story to /r/FO4, Evan had passed away.

Bethesda
later gave their condolences by sending a care package and having Evan
be the friendliest NPC in all of the wastelands in Fallout; Captial and
Mohave Wastelands, as well as the Commonwealth.
