Fixing my Fallout 4 settlements

Remember how I used to show off my Fallout settlements on here? Well, about a year ago the XBox died and it took a lot of my settlement mods with it. My carefully created digital homes were ruined.

So on and off for the past few months I’ve been putting them back together again, and I like the results. A lot of the rebuilds aren’t exactly the same but they’re not bad at all.

Some things couldn’t be salvaged. My Vault 88 is completely gone which is a shame. But it made me think of how wrong those tireless “video games only teach you to destroy things” articles are.

datura-tea:

i read this whole thing! a few takeaways:

  • was developed for tv by the westworld show creators; the showrunners wrote for captain marvel, tomb raider, portlandia, the office, silicon valley, and baskets
  • one of the leads, lucy (ella purnell) from vault 33, is naive and “doe-eyed” and left the vault for a rescue mission
  • the other leads will be a brotherhood of steel squire (aaron moten) and a bounty hunter ghoul (walton goggins)
  • vault boy will be there – he even gets an origin story
  • it’s set in los angeles
  • todd howard was an executive producer on the show
  • everything in the series is officially part of the lore. direct quote from the article: “We view what’s happening in the show as canon,” says Howard. “That’s what’s great, when someone else looks at your work and then translates it in some fashion.” He admits to being envious of some of the TV show’s interpretations and additions: “I sort of looked at it like, ‘Ah, why didn’t we do that?’”
  • most of the characters are “chasing an artifact that has the potential to radically change the power dynamic in this world”

the article’s pretty cool and made me a cautiously hopeful about the show… we’ll see on april 2024 whether it’ll be good though

khazrablood:

I’m still so hesitant and skeptical about the show but the set designs go so fucking hard. They could have gone the shoddy CGI route like most things that come out now to save money, but instead put the effort in building detailed sets.

I’m just kinda sad that they take all this down once shooting is done. I’d kill to be on set for a chance to score freebies of the smaller props that they don’t need anymore. 😭

Oh the violent post-Last of Us emotions this is awakening in me. Those sets look AMAZING and I want to see Megaton in live action so so badly. It’s just everything else I’m worried about.

Fallout 4 Tours: County Crossing

So as the video says, this is probably gonna be the last one of these. I think I’ve filmed all the really good ones now and the game is so overloaded I can barely get into it anymore, let alone take videos.

But let’s take a look at County Crossing!

Before and after shots (before shot from the Fallout wiki)

It looks pretty cool in a radstorm!
