I don’t want Amy or Rory to leave, but eventually they will, so…here’s my picks for the person who comes after them. Because the production team have gotta know what I have to say, dur.
Anyways, you may notice that all these ladies aren’t white, because…two black companions to twenty-ish white ones isn’t a commendable ratio, let’s just say.
Angel Coulby AKA: Gwen from Merlin Why: She’s actually been in Doctor Who before, a blink-and-you’ll-miss-it scene in The Girl In The Fireplace. But you’ve seen her in Merlin, right? Look at her smile! That’s a Doctor Who smile.
Antonia Thomas AKA: Alesha from Misfits Why: You have got to see Misfits. It’s brilliant. And Alesha’s a wonderful character- she’s seriously tough, but also loving (see her scenes with Simon) and she’s, dude, wouldn’t she be brilliant as a companion? She can do the running and the being-in-peril great! (Just see episode four, series two.)
Claire Ashitey-Hope AKA: Kee from Children Of Men This chick is the best thing about Children Of Men -the best thing about a flick that features Clive Owen, Julianne Moore, Michael Caine and Chiwetel Ejifior. She hasn’t been in much after that, which puzzles me, because she’s great.
Ellen Wong AKA: Knives from Scott Pilgrim Vs The World Why: Okay, she isn’t British (she’s Canadian) but LOOK AT HER, she’s both utterly utterly cute and totally totally kickass.
Katie Leung AKA: Cho Chang from Harry Potter Why: THE SCOTTISH AGENDA. Plus she’s adorable.
Naomi Harris AKA: Selena from 28 Days Later, Tia Dalma from Pirates Of The Carribbean Why: She would be a literally kick-ass companion- watch her in 28 Days Later! And hey, after Pirates she’s gotta be used to greenscreen.
Meera Syal AKA: Nasreen! Why: Because I so wanted her to join the Doctor at some point, but now she’s lurking underground with some lizard men. Still…

This chapter deals a bit with mental illness issues. No more than Vincent and the Doctor, but I figured I oughta warn.

A/N: Alec and Johnny made their first (fleeting) appearance in From Within.
A/N II: If you’re curious about where Amy and Rory got the name Alec from, have a glance at The Glamour Chase, one of the new novels…
It’s still the beginning of January! It’s not too late!
Anyway, here’s my major fanworks during the year of 2010. Which may actually be a different version of the meme going round, but I figured I’d do it anyway.
January to Febuary -nuffin
March –The Dying Doctor, a Sherlock Holmes AU to ‘The Dying Detective’. Hey, have you seen the fanfiction.net section for Sherlock Holmes? There is some magnificent stuff there. I hope this lives up to their standards… (Not often you see the words ‘magnificent’ and ‘fanfiction.net’ together, is it?)
April –The Girl, a quick Doctor Who thing where Eleven meets Rose and does not get off with her.
May –No Matter, a Doctor Who/Sherlock Holmes crossover. It trailed off somewhat towards the end but I bloody loved writing it. (Link leads to the last chapter, posted in July.)
June –In The End, in which Rory meets the afterlife and Adric
That was beautiful! Best Christmas episode since The Christmas Invasion, I reckon.
Although why, why, why didn’t they title it ‘Halfway Out Of The Dark’? It fit perfectly.
The actual episode-
Who’s impressed by Katherine Jenkins? Granted, she didn’t have a lot to do other than sing beautifully and look pretty, but she was pretty good considering it was the first time she ever acted. Can we count her and Kazran as companions? I think we can. The Doctor seems to like travelling with couples, doesn’t he?
All that fuss about ‘the Doctor gets engaged’ and ‘some lies are too big for the psychic paper’ and they turn out to be throwaway jokes!
ARTHUR MADE IT TO THE OPENING CREDITS! Which they’ve tweaked somehow, have they slowed it down?
I want to see Foggy Fish Planet again. Can the Doctor stop by there next series please?
Um, yes, to sum up, that was brilliant and lovely and sad. My Amy/Rory shipper heart squees over the hugging and kissing and the costumes, and the Eleventh Doctor is now hands down my favourite ever.
But! Surely the Doctor can’t let Abigail just die! What’s to stop him picking her and Kazran up and taking them to the future where they have a cure for whatever she has? I like to think that happened after the credits. Or maybe it didn’t. Who knows.
The trailer!-
Things I spotted: the Doctor with a beard, River in a cowgirl outfit, an Ood, both Amy and River with those tally marks on their skin, Rory looking scared, the whole crew in Utah with backpacks, River naked (!), the control room we saw in The Lodger and, of course, the Doctor telling Amy his life is in her hands. EEEEE!
