Michael J. Fox putting on the only (for right now) self lacing Nike MAG sneaker.
2015 is wild as hell. The Nike MAGs drop again Spring 2016.
Okay but I’m looking at this and I’m so excited because these shoes are so cool in a tech standpoint BUT MORESO that Michael j fox has Parkinson’s. I can’t imagine how difficult tying a pair of shoes is, and now he’s the first guy that gets self tying shoes?????? This is amazing.
I drew this comic for the Fred Rogers Centerfor Early Learning and Children’s Media at Saint Vincent College. Thanks to Professor Junlei Li for collaborating on its creation!
The Center works to further the legacy of Mr. Rogers by promoting child development through the power of human connection. Like countless children of the 20th century, I grew up watching Mr. Rogers. His earnestness, simplicity, and openness to imagination is something I strive for in my work and life.
The contextual foreignness of firm breasts in a society that doesn’t use bras
This is funny and charming
By far one of my favorite posts.
I love that across cultures, every woman grabs their boobs.
My friend is an army wife and spent some time with her husband on his Pacific posting. One day the locals invited the families from the British base for a big get-together. It was going really well but after a few hours the British women noticed that a lot of the local babies were crying, so my friend asked one of the mothers if there was something wrong, like a bug going round or something. The mother replied,
“Oh no, they’re just very hungry.”
So my friend asked, “Why don’t you feed them?”
And the mother said, “We will when you’ve gone. We use our breasts to feed them and we don’t want to embarrass you.”
And my shocked friend said, “But we do that too!”
So all the British mothers who had babies sat down and whipped out their boobs to feed them (whether they were hungry or not) and the relieved local mothers then did the same.
Two things:
– because western ladies usually cover their boobs the local ladies weren’t sure whether western women use boobs for what they’re supposed to be for
– women everywhere are considerate of other women
I also really love this photo set because, far too often, we only see pictures of African women as anthropological archetypes. They are treated like exhibits to be studied, similar to exotic animals or landscapes, rather than human beings. I LOVE these pictures, because here we have women of two different cultures laughing and talking and playing around. You can see their personalities shining through and I LOVE IT
Yesterday was genuinely surreal. I wandered around town in a daze. Strangers saluted one another, with ear to ear smiles in the fluttery freedom which was slowly emerging. Taxi drivers blew their horns passing Dublin Castle, people blared their car stereos, and even tourists cheered from open-top buses. Faces were watercolour, technicolour, and all utterly beaming. Tears flowed over laughter, the city was alive with joy, and I had never in my entire life been more proud to be Irish.
This week, Army Captain Steve Voglezon is being called a hero for pulling a trapped couple to safety after coming across a fiery car wreckage.
According to WNCN, William Thompson, 67, was driving his wife Kathleen, 63, through Chatham County, North Carolina on Sunday afternoon when another driver, Mark Ricketts, 59, crossed into their lane, smashed into their Acura sedan head-on and flipped his silver Chrysler SUV.
Both vehicles went up in flames.
Luckily, Captain Voglezon – who was fatefully wearing a ‘Captain America’ T-shirt – drove passed the scene while headed to the mall with his girlfriend and ran to help.
Video taken by a witness shows Voglezon grab a fire extinguisher and use it to smash the windows of the couple’s car before pulling out Mr. Thompson and dragging him to a safe distance away from the fire. He then returns to the wreckage to do the same for Thompson’s wife.
‘Had I not been a soldier I would not have known what to do,’ he told ABC News. ‘The Army has helped a lot.’
