So! Accepting that the past month has been… A BIT OF A ROUGH ONE for Fallout fans, I’m still gonna show off my Fallout 4 settlements! You can’t get me down just yet, Bethesda.
Right! Literally a few seconds away from Red Rocket is Abernathy Farm. I consider Sanctuary-RR-Abernathy to essentially form one big settlement in-game, and Abernathy is kinda on the outskirts, the last checkpoint before the wasteland gets a little tougher.
The before and after pics.
Here’s what Abernathy looks like as you approach it from Red Rocket…
And here’s Red Rocket as seen from Abernathy.
Let’s have a look around!
This is the shack that the game gives you to build in. However, I’m not a fan. Who’d live there if you had other options? So I built some other options. The new Abernathy house is that yellow one in the background.
Thank God, I also managed to keep the flipping cat alive!
(Why the cat’s house floats off the ground, you’d have to take that up with guess who, Bethesda. Wasn’t me!)
The shack, I decided, is instead used mostly for equipment, guns and armour storage. Here’s what’s inside.
Don’t forget the view from the top! This is where people can position themselves if there’s an attack on Abernathy.
Outside is where the farming magic happens, day and night.
I love the forest-y feel of it all.
Abernathy Farm also has a bar on site… the A-bar-nathy.
There’s some nifty bits and pieces in here, a leftover from when it was a museum. (That’s what I tried to make the building into originally.)
Upstairs, there’s a domestic area. Travellers passing through Abernathy can stay here if they have the caps. (Or maybe even if they don’t, Abernathy is a pretty welcoming place.)
What a fantastic view! You can see Radstags out there if you look carefully.
Back outside, it seems Dogmeat wants to help with the harvest…
The Abernathy house is deliberately designed to look more run-down than it really is, in an attempt to deter Raiders. After all, we know what happened last time they came.
On the inside the house is way nicer than you’d expect.
Lucy’s bedroom is on the first floor and on her sideboard there’s a photo of Mary. Also, and I didn’t even intend this, when you look out of her window you can see Mary’s grave.
Upstairs there’s a spare bedroom-
The master bedroom-
(Another photo of Mary on the side there, I forgot about that til now!)
And a nice landing filled with books and decorations.
That old-looking display case is from the Creative Clutter mod. There’s a wedding photo in there, a ring, a certificate, a holotape, some flowers…
…and a locket! Maybe the one you returned to the Abernathy family after Mary’s death?
Probably time to leave the farm now. Before we do, have an overhead shot from the top of the bar building.
Next up is Starlight Drive-In! Lemme just maneuver around Cricket, who’s hanging around here looking all green and weird, and we’ll say goodbye to Abernathy…
