Thunderbirds are Go is back soon, and that got me thinking…
…like, okay, I know the original Thunderbirds TV show and the titular machines were named after Thunderbird Field, where Gerry Anderson’s brother served in WWII, but Thunderbird Field was named after the mythical Thunderbird, which is still (I think) a pretty big part of a lot of Native American history –
(I didn’t know that until JK Rowling’s ‘American wizarding school’ thing came out, and people began to rightly complain, incidentally.)
– so I guess I’m throwing this out to people who actually are Native American: is it cultural appropriation, and if so how would one go about fixing it? Since modern-day Thunderbirds ended up largely being about a utopian future where everyone seems to have equal power and rights, it would kinda suck for a whole group to be overlooked-

Returning guest cast members include Rich Hall as Captain Taylor from ‘Relic‘, Jack Whitehall as Francois Lemaire from ‘Comet Chasers‘ and Rhys Darby as Langstrom Fischler from ‘Skyhook‘. Rosamund Pike (Lady Penelope) and Thomas Brodie-Sangster (John Tracy) will play Captain Ridley O’Bannon & Pirate Dobbs respectively, in addition to their main roles. Kayvan Novak (Brains) continues to play Ned Tedford from ‘Slingshot’, ‘Under Pressure’ & ‘Undercover’.
Woohoo!!! More of Capt. Taylor!! ( @thunderbirds-are-fab ) All I can say is we better see him and Casey in a scene together!

@madilayn Yes yes yes! As soon as I saw Rich Hall’s name I got so excited knowing that it meant I was going to see my crazy old moon man again! Any interaction between him and Casey, hopefully some “friends of Jeff” banter, would really make my year!
And we’re getting a pirate episode?!?! I can’t wait to see just how cool that is going to be! :D

I think all the Thunderbirds (as in, the machines) are live models now, and all the explosions and scenery etc are real? It’s just the characters that’re CGI as far as I know…
