humansofnewyork:

We have located the woman from yesterday’s post, and are in contact with her. We also have someone in Lahore who is going to help connect her with those who wish to help. In order to streamline that process, we created a new email account for all such offers. She is hoping for someone who can help connect her with services, as opposed to cash donations. If you believe you can help this woman with accommodation and/or medical treatment, please email: honypakassist@gmail.com.

Thanks everyone. Based on the outpouring of offers and support from yesterday, hopefully we can help her heal and get back on her feet.

“I left an abusive relationship and I have nowhere to go. I have Hepatitis C, so no one is willing to take me in. I don’t know how long I will live. I tried to give her up for adoption so that she’d have a good home. The wife of a minister told me about a place where I could drop her off. But when I got there, I just couldn’t bring myself to do it.” (Lahore, Pakistan)

A Liver for Jamie

everlarkeologist:

Jamie is a four-year-old little girl who is currently at UPMC Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh as she awaits an organ donation to save her. Living in foster care her whole life, Jamie was born with a congenital liver condition and will now not survive without a transplant.

Anyone meeting some basic qualifications and willing to undergo the surgery may be able to donate a piece of their liver to save her. Three criteria that must be met include:

  1. Type O blood
  2. Between the ages of 18 and 55
  3. BMI of 30 or less and in healthy condition

Additional testing will be required to determine if a match has been made.

If you’re interested in learning more about Jamie, please check out the Facebook page set up for her search, A Liver for Jamie. She has also been featured in multiple local news stories, including WPXI and WFMJ.

If you or someone you know is interested in testing for donation, the contact information for the UPMC kidney and liver donor coordinator is available in those articles.

Please spread the word until a donor is found.

My name is Irvin Xochitla and I am a 22-year-old suffering from renal failure, also known as kidney failure. I was diagnosed with the illness at the age of 13, and I have been undergoing a treatment called peritoneal dialysis since June 2, 2005.

This treatment requires me to be hooked up to a machine every night for nine hours. It does the work that my kidneys are supposed to do and it is the reason that I am still alive. I had been living in Atlanta, Georgia since I was only 8 months old, but at the age of 18 there were complications. In 2010, I became ineligible to continue my treatment under the Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta at Egleston Hospital. This was following my 18th birthday, and I was unable to continue with my monthly check-ups because I was no longer insured.

Provided that I am undocumented, I had a hard time being able to pay for the treatment and my family could not afford to help me cover the costs…Getting sick is a constant concern and I have had to be admitted to the hospital on several occasions. This forced me to leave my home and family back in Atlanta to come to California to seek dialysis treatment.

***************************************************************************************

As many of you may or may not know, access to healthcare is so limited for Undocumented folks, it’s close to nothing! Irvin is a wonderful young undocumented man that is raising funds to help put a deposit for his transplant. Since he does not have status all of these costs have to come out of pocket!

Please consider donating or sharing this link. Seriously everything and anything helps!

Thanks!

Meagan Taylor was jailed in Iowa simply for being transgender — and has yet to be released

Taylor and a friend were staying at the Drury Inn in Des Moines when hotel personnel called the police on “two males dressed as females” who they suspect of possibly working as prostitutes. When cops arrived they found hormones she uses to aid her gender transition and arrested her for using prescription drugs without a prescription.

Legal entanglements from a previous arrest and fines have kept Taylor locked up. But she’s not alone. Transgender San Francisco pastor Megan Rohrer has come to her aide and helped raised an overwhelming amount for her cause.

PLEASE DONATE AND HELP ME GET MY WISDOM TEETH REMOVED!!!

Hello everyone! My name is Ray and I’m 17 years old, and I’m in a bit of a pickle.

A few months ago, during a band trip, my wisdom teeth started coming in. While I was playing in a concert, my jaw locked, and I nearly had a panic attack and barely made it through the concert. I was in a lot of pain but I couldn’t figure out why my jaw had locked and I was scared. Then, a few days later, I started waking up in the middle of the night with sharp pains coming from my jaw. This then became the norm until one of my wisdom teeth broke through my gums and I knew what the problem was.

I suspect that all four of my wisdom teeth are impacted, and they’ve been causing me enormous pain and discomfort. I’ve been getting headaches almost every day, migraines, bloody mouths for no reason, and my bottom teeth have started to overlap, which carries the pain to the front of my mouth. Also, since the beginning of July 2015, the strain on my eyes has been bad enough to the point where I cannot go outside or look at any screens without sunglasses on. I am very scared that the damage to my eyes in particular will be permanent.

This is where YOU come in. My mom does not have a job and my dad makes very little money, certainly not enough to pay for a serious dental surgery. We’ve applied several times for financial aid, but have yet to get a response. If you have a spare dollar or two, please consider donating. I’ve been losing sleep over this for months, and I’m irritable, and I can’t enjoy my favorite foods. If you could please find the kindness in your heart to spare anything at all, it would be much appreciated and go towards a great cause.

The link to my GoFundMe page is: http://www.gofundme.com/yx6dg8

As a special thank-you to anyone who donates, I’m offering my services as an artist. If you go to my Tumblr ( skeptic-toaster.tumblr.com ), open my ask box, and begin your message with the words “Tooth Fairy”, I’ll give you a drawing of whatever you choose! (Please note that I only accept requests off anon.)

Thanks so much!!

Sincerely, Ray.

Guy please help my boyfriend out! This has been causing a lot of grief for him ever since they started coming in. Even if you can’t donate, please reblog to spread this. Everyone who knows him and how bad this has been is really worried for him, and we want to help him get them removed as soon as possible to lessen the chance that any damage done is permanent. So please, help out a great guy.

elizabethtudors:

okay guys I know I’ve been posting about this a lot but it is really fucking important.  Right now, HALF OF CANADA IS ON FIRE.

Yes, forest fires happen every year but right now the amount of fires we are experiencing right now is more the total amount of forest fires from last year13 000+ people have been evacuated from their homes.  Smoke is being blown across the country as far as Nova Scotia (which is on THE OTHER SIDE OF THE COUNTRY) and into the United States.  Our prime minster Stephen Harper hasn’t said anything about it.  CBC (our national news outlet) has been largely silent about the fires outside of British Columbia because a lot of the Saskatchewan fires have largely impacted the First Nations communities there.  We are literally training the Canadian army to fight fire because we have run out of resources as well as calling in international help.  We are taking the money to fight the fires from other budgets because our forest fire budget has been spent (here).  Also our current government is planning on cutting the emergency fund to “balance the budget” which will only make things worse in years to come (because climate change is what’s causing these fires in the first place).

If you have the resources, please donate to the Canadian Red Cross.  Even if you can’t donate, please reblog this and other posts.  Please don’t let this get swept under the rug.  Stay informed and remember this when certain parties ask for your vote this October.
