I remember a while ago someone was interested in the pirate version of the Shia LaBeouf song that I mentioned so I finally got my shit together and took a video of it. It’s pretty brilliant.

‘Charging Bull’ creator says NYC, ‘Fearless Girl’ statue violated his rights

“Speaking at a Manhattan news conference, Arturo Di Modica said he placed the “Charging Bull” statue in front of the New York Stock Exchange in 1987 as a symbol of America’s resilience following the stock market crash that year. The city later relocated the sculpture to a small public park area nearby.

“The bull represents strength,” said Di Modica. “The strength of America, the strength of the market.”

The iconic statue over the years has become one of the city’s most popular tourist attraction. But on the eve of International Women’s Day, State Street Global Advisors placed the new a statue of a little girl, hands defiantly on hips, in front of the bull.

The new sculpture virtually overnight became a representation of a lack of gender diversity and equality on Wall Street and in other  U.S. workplaces. The investment firm said it commissioned the artwork as a part of its call on behalf of the more than 3,500 companies that benefit from its clients’ investments to make sure their governing boards are diverse.

Created by artist Kristen Visbal, “Fearless Girl” gained widespread attention as tourists flocked to the site to take pictures with the statue.

By March 27, New York City Mayor Bill de Blasio agreed that the “fearless girl” statue would remain on Department of Transportation property as a part of a municipal art program through February 2018.

Many hailed the announcement. But Di Modica was far from pleased. He said “Fearless Girl” was part of an advertising campaign that altered the artistic message behind “Charging Bull” without his permission.

“What they did, it’s a negative,” Di Modica said of the new message conveyed by “Fearless Girl.” Now, the message is “I’m here, what are you going to do,” he said.

Okay so a previous Victor Hugo post has reminded me of when I went to visit his residence on my home island, Hauteville House.

And I want to tell you about the most extra room in the most extra house of the most extra man.

Since Victor Hugo expected to die on the island, in his house, he furnished one of the second floor (or third floor for you people who don’t have ground floors) rooms to house his deathbed.

Pretty badass looking deathbed.

BUT WAIT it gets better

See this man who slept normally in the servants quarters on the top floor in relative modesty (though those rooms are pretty fucking swish by todays standards), he wanted his death to be something pretty grand and symbolic so THIS FUCKING MAN made his death room a fucking journey from the deathbed to heaven.

So we continue down the room and it turns into a fucking church with pews and all and all these wood mouldings like damn dude!

and tHEN

in the middle of the room is a big ass candelabra which is perhaps supposed to be the Biblical burning bush

AND THEN

You enter the judgement zone where his symbolic soul would be symbolically judged, a big fuck off table with 3 chairs for God, Mary, and Jesus

and we know this bECAUSE HE FUCKING LABLED THE CHAIRS

NOT TO MENTION that this was on the second floor which had a skylight on top of the staircase on which ‘God’s Light’ was written cause it’s meant to be Heaven whereas the very dark area at the very bottom of the stairs is dark as fuck because it’s the unenlightened earth!

LITERALLY LOOKING UP AT HEAVEN YO!

Victor Hugo, the most extra man who ever fucking lived!

omg THANK YOU for all the pictures, I can never get enough details about Hugo’s Amazing Appalling Fantastic Interior decorating choices!

All of you out there supporting planned parenthood should really remember what the woman who founded them said…. just saying. Do not stand with PP

Oh wow, you guys are still trying desperately trying to paint Sanger as a racist huh? Okay, if you’re gonna flat out lie like this you can at least try not to be lazy about it.

You’ve given no context to this quote and conveniently left of the first half of it. The sentence in it’s entirety is “
“We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the Negro population.”

I know you manipulated it that way because you wanted to make Sanger seem as evil as possible, and also because literally the only thing pro lifers know how to do is lie, but admittedly the full sentence by itself looks damning enough. I think you know this, which is why you provided no context. If you had, your entire argument would have fallen apart. Here are Sangers words with context;

“It seems to me from my experience where I have been in
North Carolina, Georgia, Tennessee and Texas, that while the colored
Negroes have great respect for white doctors they can get closer to
their own members and more or less lay their cards on the table which
means their ignorance, superstitions and doubts. They do not do this
with the white people and if we can train the Negro doctor at the Clinic
he can go among them with enthusiasm and with knowledge, which, I
believe, will have far-reaching results among the colored people. His
work in my opinion should be entirely with the Negro profession and the
nurses, hospital, social workers, as well as the County’s white doctors.
His success will depend upon his personality and his training by us.

The minister’s work is also important and also he should be trained,
perhaps by the Federation as to our ideals and the goal that we hope to
reach. We do not want word to go out that we want to exterminate the
Negro population and the minister is the man who can straighten out that
idea if it ever occurs to any of their more rebellious members.”

The article I linked goes into better detail about Sanger, the so called “Negro project”, and the lies spread about her by the pro life movement. I encourage you to read it the next time you feel like spreading lazy, manipulative propaganda bullshit like this.

TL;DR: The full quote states that Planned Parenthood wanted to hire Black doctors in order to make their Black patients feel safer and respected. It also states that Planned Parenthood wanted to work with Black ministers, and encourage the ministers to tell others that Planned Parenthood was a safe clinic for Black patients.

In other words, she didn’t want this exact lie to start circulating

So are you Jewish just because Jake Gyllenhaal is Jewish or…

jakeyllenhaal:

Great question! Despite my parents and every single other member of my entire family being Jewish, I, as a small infant, decided to became a proper Jew because I, a newborn child born into a Jewish family before Jake Gyllenhaal had even starred in a movie, thought that if Jake Gyllenhaal was doing it, I must do it too. In fact, I base all my life decisions on what Jake Gyllenhaal does. At the age of 5 I decided to change my ethnicity to Swedish and English and Swiss-German because Jake is Swedish and English and Swiss-German. Also, I loved Jake’s role in the 2005 film “Brokeback Mountain”, an emotional story about two gay cowboys, and Jake’s dedication and acceptance towards the gays that I even decided to become one myself (a gay). Everything I do is based around Jake Gyllenhaal.
