Tbh what I love most about Maz Kanata’s design is that she doesn’t look traditionally feminine at all. No long hair, no big sparkling eyes (except for with the goggles lol), no “girly” colored clothes. She’s kinda wrinkly and wears very functional clothing. Honestly if they’d slapped a dude voice on her instead I’d totally buy it. She’s not pretty, and doesn’t look like she was once pretty either.
She is a complete, full character; strong, complex, and female, and she is just as normal and nonsexy as any non-lead male character. I love Maz because she defies beauty standards that the west applies to movie aliens. Maz just IS, and she doesn’t give a bantha’s butt-hair and I love it
