Hmmm. Somehow I doubt devotion was really what it was.

OH, this photo. Every time I see it I have to just stop for a while. For such an iconic image, there doesn’t seem to be much information about the people in it. All I can find is this. (Anything else that looked useful is blocked in Europe.) I wonder what happened afterwards but maybe no-one will ever know.
Today is the 75th anniversary of the end of WW2 in Europe. There’s a lot of (socially distanced) celebrations going on.
I don’t really want to do the Winston Churchill thing, nor the Boris Johnson thing, so here’s a picture of my grandfather doing his engineering work during the war.
