doctor who

Hmmm I have some theories about #DoctorWho… (spoilers ahead!) Mostly involving Grace. She seemed pretty dead but I don’t think she is.

When the new cast was announced, Sharon D Clarke was announced as playing a returning role, which seems kinda inaccurate if Grace dies in the first episode. Also, in the first round of promo material they announced Clarke was playing ‘a pivotal character…’ ….when they could have just said “Sharon D Clarke is playing Grace” or even “Sharon D Clarke is playing Graham’s wife/Ryan’s gran” if they hadn’t settled on a name yet. But they didn’t…

So I’m convinced there’s more to her than we currently know. & I’ve heard people saying that the title “The woman who fell to earth” could refer to her too, which makes me even more convinced of her importance. (See also how “The Pilot” referred to Heather who turned out vital.)

Honestly? I ALMOST want to theorise that she’s a reformed, regenerated Missy, living quietly on Earth and completely disconnected from her previous life(/lives). Or she might really be ‘just’ a nice old lady. But I’m so positive there’s more to her character…

(Think of how important Nurses are to Doctors!)

Nobody ever speak ill of Mickey Smith in my presence ever again.

Now this, this is character development

I dunno… it’s from the novelisation of the episode Rose, so I’m not sure I’d call it character development so much as “stuff RTD should’ve put in from the start.” Maybe it’s RTD’s writing development. I don’t know. Somebody help me

Ever since Jodie mentioned that her doctor costume was entirely inspired by one black and white image I’ve been desperate to try and find it. I had a REAAAL search of Pinterest today and I’m pretty sure I’ve found it!

She described the photo as a short haired woman wearing cropped trousers, a t shirt with braces and boots. This is the only image I’ve found that has that combo. Jodie also mentioned the image was black and white, timeless, and the woman in question was striding deep in thought. The woman above clearly fits all of this, and it had 3k pins on Pinterest so she could quite easily find it.

So yah, I’m 90% sure this is the image that inspired the thirteenth doctor’s look

I found it here: https://pin.it/tnjlqdq2h6jx6u

“I kind of presented a mood board. I had an acorn and he turned it into the most beautiful tree. I could kind of say what I meant, and then he would present a look, and it elevated everything I’d suggested, and erased the bits that he knew without telling me didn’t work. But, essentially, I found a photo, and it’s just a Google image, and I have no idea what decade it is, but it’s a woman in crop trousers that are slightly big, with a T-shirt, and [suspenders], and with boots, walking and thinking. I just love the androgyny of it, without it being masculine, and I think that’s a really important line to find and quite a difficult one as well.”

Naomi Ackie cast in upcoming Star Wars Episode IX

The cast of Star Wars 9 has officially been announced by Disney and Lucasfilm as filming is set to kick off next week. In addition to plenty of familiar faces, both from the original trilogy and the last couple of adventures in a galaxy far, far away, some new cast members have officially boarded what is being billed as the final chapter in the Skywalker saga by the studio. Those new additions include Richard E. Grant and Naomi Ackie.

Of the two new additions, Naomi Ackie is certainly the lesser-known, but she’s not a total newbie. She starred in 2016’s Lady Macbeth and was part of the cast for the TV miniseries The Five. She also starred on an episode of Doctor Who. That’s something she and Richard E. Grant have in common, as he’s also appeared on the long-running sci-fi series.

Naomi Ackie adds some diversity to the Star Wars 9 cast as an African American actress. Plenty of fans have pointed out that there has been no shortage of white, brunette, British actresses in these movies during the Disney Era.

Doctor Who fans know her as Rigsy’s partner Jen from Face the Raven! :D
