-Oh here’s that Claire lady from before. Wonder if she’ll make it out alive.

-Jeez there’s a lot of technobabble in this one.

-Man Jodie has really grown into the role of the Doctor, and now she’s leaving, sigh.

-I do like the bits with Bel. (I gather not everyone does?) They’re pleasingly apocalypse-y.

-Oh apparently this guy with Bel is from The Inbetweeners, a show that was everywhere a few years ago but I’ve never actually seen it.

-This little girl is disturbingly calm considering the situation.

-Unexpected SPACE!

-This Gerald is pretty awful, I hope he gets angel’ed.

-Oh, he did.

-Ahhh angel-related body horror, oh no.

-Okay I admit it, it IS cool to hear a Weeping Angel “talk.”

-I’ve sort of been wondering if Amy and Rory might get namechecked in this one, but no luck yet.

-Oooh a new character! And Daleks! We haven’t seen them in about a year right, that’s a long time for Daleks to be absent these days.

-Man, the Thirteenth Doctor falls off/through things a lot. A LOT.

-I’m…. not sure how we got here, but we’re back with Dan’s girlfriend again. And hanging around some lovely Liverpool scenery too.

-Oh some Dan backstory. Awww poor Dan. :(

-Um, I’m getting Arrival vibes here?

-Also every time someone mentions “Ravagers” I just think of Guardians of the Galaxy, sorry.

-RUTH DOCTOR!!! Whoa I was not expecting her!! Sweet!

-Oh we’re back with Boris Johnson, I mean the Victorian guy, again.

-yay! Finally Yaz’s sister is back!

-Weeping Angel in a video game! That’s something we haven’t seen before with them, neat.

-The Foundling Conflict? I’m gonna assume this is something to do with The Timeless Child?

-God this makes NO SENSE I’m sorry! I just can’t follow all the jumping around. I do like the “Love is the only mission” line though.

-Yeah I wanna know the explanation too! Come on!

-“You lost me quite early on.” Yeah, I can relate, Doc.

-The Doctor is quite a bit more, ur, traditionally Doctor-y here (i.e. a snippy asshole) and I don’t think Yaz is liking it much.

-Vinder’s role in the Bel plot was obvious but it’s still quite touching.

-Honestly a whole lot of this reminded me of the Futurama timeskips episode.

-I wonder if regular folks like Dan’s parents remember some of the other alien invasions that’ve happened in the Whoniverse recently. They don’t seem overly shocked at the current situation…

-Wait Yaz is still a police officer? When does she ever go to work?!

-Aww no! Civilians being lined up and executed! Sontarans look and sound so funny I forget they’re bastards.

-Oh yeah you can always count on the British military to come in and ruin everything.

-Don’t do it Dan, companions have a bad track record with ladders and cranes.

-I dig Swarm’s ridiculous aesthetic and completely OTT villainy, he seems to have wandered in from another show entirely.

-Ah, this guy is Harriet Jones no 2 I guess. (Worse, though.)

-I hope the Doctor meets Mary Seacole again too.

-Wait, did Dan leave without saying goodbye to his parents?

-Oh geez no, Yaz! However her being in the “next time” trailer considerably lessens the impact of the cliffhanger…

-I do wish we’d gotten some adventures with just Yaz and Thirteen. It’s a dynamic we’ve seen annoyingly little of.

-Ah, some Victorians whose attitudes are identical to the Tories! Right down to the hating the poor!

-Here’s John Bishop! Awww Dan seems nice. Very devoted to Liverpool.

-That’s an interesting thing there, the Ruth Doctor was a tour guide as well…

-This lady only has one arm, I appreciate that little bit of inclusivity.

fourteen favourite shots: Doctor Who season one

I’ve wanted to do a Fourteen Favourite Shots for Doctor Who for a while now, but honestly the Clarke-Barrowman allegations put a major damper on me wanting to make anything Who-related. But I guess time has passed, and there’s a new series about to come out now which involves neither of them, so…

I don’t know I’ll necessarily watch season one again, I had some big issues with it even before the news hit, but here ya go. Fourteen shots from the thirteen episodes I guess made me a Who fan.
