I have no stake in this, but the writers said it’s a lot more complicated than unrequited, and there’s an obvious censored kiss between them in one of those recent episodes.

Awwww! (Wait, censored? That’s a bit disappointing. I take it the distributors rather than the animators did that.)

Like, I have no stake in SU fandom whatsoever really, and Pearl was super obviously in love with Rose and is almost certainly never going to fall for Mayor Dewey and I’d be disappointed if she did, but the amount of hate I’ve seen leveled against people for saying nothing more then “I want this queer character to be like me! [bi, pan, in a relationship with someone who…okay I dunno what the attraction is re: Dewey but let’s go with that!]” is kind of unnerving. Like, really nasty stuff. Brrr.

Me personally I think Pearl’s gay, but if you (er, general ‘you’) want her to be bi, you go do that! Who I am to stop you? Emotions always fly high when people want a character to be Like Them, because no character can be Like Everyone. Which is where the problem arises I guess…

Oh thank you for this post. I see a load of tweets liking him and I just remember a complete dickbag and I was starting to wonder about my grip on reality.

It really genuinely worries me that people are starting to listen to him, even about things other than his disgusting “hey guys disabled people are gonna die soon isn’t that awesome’ schtick. Ableism goes pretty unnoticed as it is. Sigh.

Yeah cos i have no idea who this guy is.  Menos mal.

I shall tag any posts about him with ‘racist comedian frankie boyle’ because, ironically, he doesn’t like to be called that name

Reading your last post, I really hate the double standards in the Marvel fandom. Bucky/Loki/other femme-coded male woobies gets fetishized to the point of ableism, and yet they trash women like Mary Jane for essentially the same reason they love said guy woobies. I know this is basically every fandom, but iamabitterdcfan I mean Marvel fandom talks a big game about being progressive and gah -allisbornagain

I’ve noticed that too (especially all the really weird stuff about Bucky’s metal arm that came out when TWS was released).  And that Cap, who isn’t canonically bisexual, is held up as one when actual bisexual characters get ignored.

Marvel-in-general fandom’s sort of quieted on how much better than DC they are now (good), but I think the TWS fandom tends to hold itself (and the movie?) up as something more progressive than it is. And while I like Bucky fine I wish he wasn’t held up as the prime victim of HYDRA, or the only one worth talking about…
