“Philip” is the assumed name of criminal mastermind/washed-up actor/master of disguise Phoenix Buchanan.
Blanc met him when Aunt Lucy hired him to keep an eye on the newly released Phoenix/Philip and make sure he committed no more crimes against her beloved nephew (or the art of acting.) Alas, Blanc fell in love instead, he can’t resist a man with that much natural showmanship. Blanc knows who Philip really is but Philip doesn’t know that Blanc knows. Unfortunately, they’re both thinking of visiting Peru for a second honeymoon.
