Not X
Whenever somebody famous dies I always see their name trending on Twitter, but I also see the phrase “Not [person]” on the trending topics as well. When Carrie Fisher died it was “Not Carrie,” when Kobe Bryant died it was “Not Kobe” and so on. More recently it was Not Chadwick Boseman and Not Diana Rigg. Every time, I see that little “Not” there. Not him. Not her. It’s a sort of sadness I don’t think the Twitter algorithm is really set up for. Millions of people all crying out “Not __” at the same time.
