man your interpretation of qui-gon as this quirky, airy, slightly troll-y hippie is literally one of my favorite interpretations. it’s like, a wink to how feely & almost, like, mystical? kind of? qui-gon was in the phantom menace, & it just makes me so so so happy
Ahaha thank you! His “be one with the universe” and “live in the present” philosophies are definitely supposed to mirror his passion for the Living Force in canon. He does have his negative side though; he can be emotionally constipated and is often self-righteous and frankly selfish in his own pursuit of what he considers to be the Right way to do things. He’s an idealist, which can be both good and bad. Sometimes he gets into these “me vs the world” modes where he wallows to the point of disregarding his responsibilities and the feelings of others, like a pouty child when they don’t get their way. And he’s pretty useless in terms of planning ahead. But he does have a good heart and good intentions, and most of the time he’s just a harmless hippie. He’s very passionate about the things and people he loves, even if he has bizarre and inconsistent ways of showing it. He loves to tease, but in a very innocent way. Lots of “dad humor” and the types of strange comments and gifts that make you not sure if he’s messing with you or if he’s truly just an eccentric. (Spoiler: it’s both XD)
