By ‘researching the origins of Pokemon’ I have to assume they in fact mean ‘Browsing the video game category of the Creepypasta Wiki’ because that’s the only way I can make sense of someone coming to the conclusion that Pokemon are in fact demons sent from hell ._.

I’m always terrified for whatever kids are involved when I see parents like this. I grew up with some, and it’s a hell of a lot less funny when someone like that has control over your life. Guaranteed that person makes their kid feel like shit on a regular basis because anything not explicitly christian that they take an interest in is going to get deemed demonic, evil, etc.
I was about 12 during the first Pokemon craze and I remember really clearly reading stories about how parents would run their children’s Pokemon toys over or burn them, screaming about the devil as they did. It was completely horrifying, and even more so because all the other fans (older than me) I knew seemed to think it was funny.
It’s not, it’s pretty much child abuse. I really want to do better for this new generation of Pokemon kids, but I have no idea how.
