one of the saddest moments for me has always been that scene in Empire Strikes Back when Han is brought back to his cell after being tortured by Vader and he just sort of looks lost and sad and defeated and he says: “they never even asked me any questions”
like Vader and the gang just tortured him for the hell of it and he was so traumatized
Worse. It wasn’t just for the hell of it. I’m pretty sure it was a direct message to Luke. Vader knew Luke would sense it. I think that’s why when Luke is on Dagobah, the first thing he says is “Han.” That’s the scene he was seeing.
Yes. And I think he realizes that the second Lando says “somebody called, uh, Skywalker.”
Or do they?
Does Luke ever tell them why he came/how he knew where the hell they are?
Is it in that deleted scene from Empire with Leia and Luke when she tells him what happened to Han or is it in the list of “scenes we were cheated out of,“ including “Luke tells Han about Vader & his hand”, “Luke tells Leia and Han exactly what went down on the second Death Star” and add yours to the list. Those are my top two.
Han’s situation is so horrifying. He’s tortured, clearly traumatized by it, then shoved into carbonite. And then he wakes up a whole year later, in the middle of chaos.
He might get some time to process when Luke goes back to Dagobah, but he’s missed so much. Lando and Leia have changed in subtle ways. Leia seems a bit more at peace, which is a good thing, but he’ll probably regret not being able to help her with that. Luke’s changes would be incredibly jarring: like someone shattered him apart and glued him back together.
It’s probably no wonder he dealt with the twin reveal so well and so quickly, given all the other shit that he’s had to process in that movie.
